Apparently Aidy Boothroyd was called up out of the blue by Southgate and asked if he still wants Johnson on loan after enquiring about him last season.
We need a player to push McAnuff and Smith hard for their starting places and Johnson's the man to do it and a temporary replacement for Bouazza.
From the little I've seen of him then he could be a lot better then Downing.
I suspect that a 24 hour recall clause has been agreed, jsut in case of injuries. He probably won't start on Sunday as Aidy like his players to settle for a bit before introducing them.

there's quite a few boro fans who reckon johnson should be in ahead of downing but tbh they are wrong - at the moment anyway.
he is very exciting, takes on his full back and gets a good cross in. has a decent shot on him as well. possibly a bit lightweight. didn't do much at leeds last season but was mainly on the bench. should do well for you if he gets a chance.

He will get a chance as Smith seems to be carrying a little extra weight and McAnuff hasn't shown his true form. They're currently the only real wingers in the first team squad.
A lightweight winger isn't a problem in the Championship as long as they've got the pace and skill to overcome it.

HE is young and raw, has pace to waste any full back in the country, but has little or no end product.
Saying that nor did downing really till he went to sunderland and came back and got a first team run.
Should be a great experience for the lad, he needs to learn there is more to beating the man repeatedly, no point beating him if you cant get a good cross in!
Phil, Tuncay can play on the left, he's more used to the left than the right TBF.
Anyway, away at Reading i dont get back till the thursday i think, so you ill have to get the tickets, i will ring you before i go and meet you to give you some monski for my 3 tickets.
