It was Schalke's 5th pre-season game and our 1st so I was expecting us to get beat. Plus Schalke had there strongest 11 out we only had half our 1st team.

1-1 tonight. Very good performance. We kept the ball well and weren't looking to lump it up to our forwards at every opportunity. Which resulted in Yakubu putting in a good performance.
Aliadiere really is fast and direct and he looks comfortable on the ball. I feel him and Yak may well become a good partnership assuming we keep Yak.
Rocky was sent off for clipping a player. Was stupid of him but said player he just elbowed Davies in the face.

Middlesbrough are to appeal against a red card handed to Fabio Rochemback during a pre-season friendly against Hertha Berlin in Austria.
The Brazilian midfielder was dismissed midway through the second half after reacting to a tackle from Pal Dardai in the 1-1 draw with the Bundesliga outfit.
Rochemback picked up the red card only two minutes after Andrew Davies suffered a bloody nose after an ugly clash with another Hertha player.
Boro boss Gareth Southgate is hoping that Rochemback will not be forced to miss the start of the Premier League season as a result of the dismissal.
"I don't want to say too much because we are going to try and appeal against the red card," Southgate told the club's official website.
"It was a friendly game and we're coming here to have an exercise. But I don't want to say too much, we want to appeal against it if we can."
Boro had trailed in the match but got back on level terms courtesy of a penalty from Yakubu.
Jeremie Aliadiere also made his Boro bow and impressed during his 45-minute run-out.
"I'm pleased that a lot of things we've worked on over the last few days, the movement off the line, the movement of the front two, came through. I thought there was a lot of positive signs," added Southgate.

Derek Shaw has dismissed speculation linking Simon Whaley with a move away from Preston.
Reports have suggested Premier League pair Middlesbrough and Portsmouth are interested in signing the highly-rated winger.
However, Preston chairman Shaw is adamant there has been no contact from either club.
And he maintains Whaley is still an integral member of Preston's squad and will not be going anywhere this summer.
"I wouldn't expect a club of Middlesbrough's status to be conducting their business through the media," Shaw told Preston's official website.
"We've had no enquiries for Simon Whaley. He is very much part of the manager's plans and we wouldn't be looking for any enquiries for Simon Whaley.
"I haven't been off the phone to Portsmouth over the last few weeks and I would have thought that if Portsmouth had any interest that it would have been brought up."
Lewis Neal has also been linked with a possible move to Barnsley but Shaw insists there is no need for Preston fans to pay attention to any transfer talk.
He explained: "When this club has got an announcement to make, it will be made through the proper channels and not through the gossip column of a newspaper."

Agreed. A lot of people think he is better than he is because he got in the England squad a few times. He'd be a very good signing though, in my opinion.

Hopefully he passes. Since Charlton went down i've been thinking we should have been in for him, being Boro though i thought we would let him slip through the net. Good signing if it all comes off
