sad is an understatement, the lad plays with his heart on his sleeve, he bleeds for the club and he has skill! what a combo unlike pogo who just bleeds and downing who has skill
At Franks best there is only one LB in the country who is better and thats Cole, but last season was poor by his own standards.
Still he is 5 times better than Taylor will EVER be and a million miles better than pogo.
DONT GO FRANK!
Anyway, im a no to arca, we have Downing and Johnson.
If arca joins may as well loan johnson as he will be further down the pecking order than last season.
bah my season start couldnt be any worse could it!
Best player might leave and a macken makeweight might come in....BAH!

Why is Queduere after leaving ? Thought he was an integral part of the side and fairly well thought of ?
He was 2nd choice to Pogatetz last year, and has been unsettled ever since. The fans will be sad to see him go. </BLOCKQUOTE>

Well, it looks like Arca will be competing with Taylor for LB and Pogo will be playing at CB.
He's hardly our best player

Pogo CB or LB? This article seems to suggest that Arca will be competing with Downing for the LM spot. Maybe one of our many left-sided players will play on the right?

I'll step into your bootsJul 25 2006
Eric Paylor, Evening Gazette
Emanuel Pogatetz today insisted he is ready to step into Gareth Southgate's boots - if the Boro boss fails to bring in central defensive cover.
The Austrian international, who played alongside Chris Riggott at Rangers on Saturday, revealed that he is just as happy playing at centre-back as he is on the left flank.
Pogatetz told the Evening Gazette: "I am happy to play anywhere. The important thing is to be in the team.
"But I really like it in the heart of the defence. I hope I can play in this position because I believe that I can do well there.

"I enjoyed it at Rangers. I am happy playing alongside Chris Riggott and I think we can play well together.
"But the gaffer makes the decision and I will do whatever I am asked for the team."
With Franck Queudrue on his way shortly, it's more likely that Southgate envisages Pogatetz contesting the left-back spot with Andrew Taylor.
A great deal will depend on whether Southgate can push through a deal for Manchester City centre-back Sylvain Distin over the next month, or complete a loan deal for Robert Huth.
Southgate is determined to bring in more cover in the position, especially as he has hung up his boots himself.
But Pogatetz's ability to play in both positions is a bonus at the moment.
And the 23-year-old, who took time to settle to life in the Premiership last term, reckons that the new campaign is a big one for him.
In fact, he wants to make a huge contribution to the side and get rid of the Mad Dog tag which was rather harshly bestowed last season.
He said: "I really expect a lot more from myself this season. I hope that I can make a step forward.
"It's always hard when you move to a new club in a different country. It's the same for everybody.
"There are a lot of things I can learn, still, but I have been here for a year now and I know what is going on.
"I have high expectations of myself for this season."
Pogatetz had a fine game at Rangers and has clearly adapted to the new regime, following Southgate's promotion to the hot seat.
Pogatetz said: "I suppose it was a bit strange for the first couple of weeks when Gareth Southgate moved up.
"But now he is the gaffer and everybody has got used to it.
"You always wanted to do well when you were playing alongside him and now you want to help him to win games in the Premiership.
"You have to play well and impress him if you want to be in the team."
Despite his hopes at centre-back, Pogatetz is expected to play at left-back at Oakwell tonight because Taylor is in the other squad which travels to York City.
Fellow defenders Ugo Ehiogu and Andrew Davies have been added to the main squad tonight, and one - or both - of them may start.
Taylor is joined at Bootham Crescent by teenage midfield duo Lee Cattermole and James Morrison, both of whom did well at Rangers.
Argentine midfielder Julio Arca is expected to complete his move to Teesside from Sunderland this week, while Southgate is also maintaining his search for a right-sided player.
He has again been linked with Blackburn Rovers winger Brett Emerton, who is inside the final 12 months of his current contract.
Former Boro midfielder Luke Wilkshire is on the verge of completing a move from Bristol City to Dutch side Twente Enschede.
Entry to Boro's game against Feyenoord in Holland on Sunday, August 6 (KO 2pm), will be 18 Euros (approximately £12.30).
Entry to the game against Heerenveen (KO 7.30pm) on Tuesday, August 8, is 12 Euros (£8.20).
Tickets for the club's only pre-season friendly at the Riverside, against Italian Serie A side Chievo on Saturday, August 12 (3pm), will be £10 adults and £5 under-16s/over-65s. Tickets are set to go on sale in the next few days.
2 games tonight:

Goulon set for senior debutJul 25 2006
By Evening Gazette
French teenager Herold Goulon steps up to the main Boro squad for tonight's friendly match against Barnsley at Oakwell.
The 18-year-old new boy from Lyon, who impressed in his club debut at Darlington on Saturday, is being given an early opportunity to stake a senior claim.
Boro have two games tonight because they also play at York, but Gareth Southgate is leading the strongest squad to Barnsley.

While Goulon could well start at Oakwell, Southgate has resisted the temptation to field any of his World Cup men tonight.
Mark Schwarzer has been back in training for six days, though Mark Viduka and Stewart Downing did not return to Rockliffe Park until yesterday.
Midfielder Ray Parlour, who was not involved in either game on Saturday, travels with the squad to Barnsley, while Andy Davies, Ugo Ehiogu and Jason Kennedy also step up.
The squad for Barnsley is:
Turnbull, Steele, Parnaby, Davies, Ehiogu, Riggott, Pogatetz, Boateng, Rochemback, A Johnson, Parlour, Goulon, Kennedy, Graham, Maccarone and Yakubu.
The Barnsley game kicks off at 7.45pm and Boro fans can gain admission via the turnstiles, priced £10 adults and £5 under-18s/over-65s.
Malcolm Christie will lead the Boro attack in an otherwise very young squad to face York.
The squad for York is:
Knight, Atkinson, Taylor, J Johnson, Wheater, Bates, Hines, Morrison, Liddle, Cattermole, Walker, Williams, Porritt, Franks, Christie, Craddock.
Entry to York (KO 7.45pm) is also priced £10 adults and £5 concessions for standing and seats, payable on the turnstiles.

we're bringing a few down I think. I haven't been back to Oakwell since getting absolutely soaked in an open stand when you were redeveloping it in 1995 I think it was.
