Also a little strange that if they are going to struggle with crops then why is one of their farmers going with the 10 guys?
I really felt like fast forwarding parts of this episode (espcially the parts with Dale). The 'OMG USA NUKED ' factor that made the show really good at the start is fading. The fact that a map and a board with news pinned up on it was one of the most exiting moments in the second half of this season says a lot.

While I'm no farmer, I really struggle to understand why a rural farming community like Jericho would struggle so bad with a 10% crop demand. Understandable if they were a large urban centre, but they are ringed by plenty of open land, I really don't see how, once the weather turns a bit, they can't simply grow more food, vegetables and such. May not be fine dining, but I would think that arable land = survival in their situation, so any and all steps would be taken.
Complete guess, but I'm going with the lack of manpower and machinery, plus the fact that crops need to be harvested at a certain time, in a certain timeframe. Plus we aren't actually sure how much of the surrounding land is available for planting. Plus there was the story early in the series about some anti-pest stuff in barrels? Didn't farmer whatever say he needed that for his crops and couldn;t afford to lose any of it?
I actually really, really enjoyed that. Was good that April died (was expcting a miraculous recovery or for the doc to save her). it shows that even relatively easily treateable illnesses can now be really devastiating. The town has lost a fair few of it's men. Relationships have disintegrated and people STILL have to be told that the marines are not coming to save them.
I thought it was pretty good in all honesty.

Can't be a lack of manpower, they've been bitching about how they now have too many mouths to feed. It's not lack of machinery, it's perfectly possible to farm without modern machinery, people managed without things like tractors just fine up until quite recently really. Lack of pesticides is plausible but again wondering how people got by in older times, when modern chemicals were not available? Most land will also be fertile enough to grow something, even if it's just a case of dumping a pile of compost down and growing some basic root vegetables. Since this is their only real sustainable food source you would think the whole town would be galvanised into this, using any and all land possible. I mean, what's the worst that could happen? It doesn't grow. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, especially if the land is just going to sit idle anyway.
Agree with the whole illness angle you mentioned though, just a little worried they will play on it a bit, some easily treatable disease ravaging the population, leading to Jake having to go somewhere to get drugs to save the day, running into Ravenwood again, rinse and repeat of last time, blah blah blah.

I agree. As time goes on those little hints and events linked to the attack seem to become more rare and restricted to Hawkins only.

Liked this weeks episode, focusing on the logistics and realities of trying to survive, and the difficult decisions that have to be made. Was kinda hoping Grey would die, he's pretty pointless in all reality, except to make it a little easier to dislike the person having to make the difficult decisions. Nice way of getting rid of Roger though, leaves Emily and Jake free to pick up where they left off. Kid still annoying, hopefully his employees will turn on him soon, and Jake's mum did her best to annoy again this week, with some fantastic "terror". Hawkins could get very interesting again, which is good news cos he's dipped the past few weeks.

I thought, mini Bonnie and Clyde, that was pretty damn good. Utter chaos when the refugees started to riot. Bit lame with the mum's speech, but I like the way they are getting across the complete madness that is going on with everyone basically panicking.
And Hawkins rumbled.

Explanations plentiful this week, good to finally get to grips with Hawkins, if he's being honest ofc. Thought Stanley's sister behaved like a right spoiled bitch this week, found myself willing the accountant to punch her in the **** with the hatchet.
The main storyline is starting to come together nicely though, this weeks episode did alot for that. Is Valente the traitor, or perhaps Sarah? Or is Hawkins lying still?
Found the stuff with the ex-mayor a bit tedious and pointless, felt tacked on if I'm honest, for no real reason.
