Ok guys I have been completely messed around by Halfords. I have a Renault Megane 2002 plate 1.6 16v. Wanted to have my iPod nano play through the stereo but also still have use of the steering wheel controls for volume etc.
Now I was under the impression the Dension Ice-Link FM iPod Car Connector would do all of this. Guy at Halfords said it would do the job so I purchased the Ice-Link and made a time for it to get fitted. Showed up last Friday and guy says they have made a mistake and it needs an extra bracket for the Megane so that the iPod will fit. They agree to order the part in at no extra cost.
So today I show up and get told to come back in 1 hour for it to get fitted. When I come back they say that the Dension Ice-Link doesn’t fit the car and that the model is for an Audii ? Then he says that the Dension Ice-Link will not do the job I want as the Megane uses Molex connectors or something?
Totally confused at the moment. I asked what my options were if I want to have the steering wheel functions working with the ipod and he says to buy some Sony stereo which costs £150. This is setup for ipods but if I want the steering wheel functions to work I would need to buy £50 worth of cabling. Since I have been messed around he agreed that they wouldn’t charge me for the cabling or fitting of the stereo.
I haven’t agreed anything yet as I can’t believe this is my only option if I simply want my iPod to work in the car with steering wheel functions intact. Is he taking the **** or is that really my only option?
