Consett 8-1 Bishop Auckland
Took the lead early on through a wonderful goal by local lad Fairish (his first for the club). Then we pretty much hit the self destruct button - a couple of slack passes were punished by the Consett forwards to put them 2-1 up.
Then, the turning point of the game a minute before half-time. A short back-pass was latched onto by an opposition forward and the 'keeper came out and brought him down. Apparently our 'keeper got some of the ball, but from where I was it didn't look too good a tackle tbh. Anyway, a penalty was awarded (and converted) and the 'keeper was sent off, even home players and fans said it was harsh.
As we didn't have a 'keeper on the bench (we rarely do for some reason) one of our defenders went in, and you could tell it was basically because he got the short straw. Can't be too harsh on the lad though he did his best. What was disappointing was our defending as a team after the break, ie we never, allowing Consett to wander through our defence at will to add a further five goals. Our worst defeat since February 1960.
Sunderland Nissan 1-3 Bishop Auckland
Christ, where did this come from? Wasn't expecting this tbf. Nissan are a team with some very good players and are expected to be there or thereabouts come the end of the season.
Didn't attend this match as I was watching Sunderland's debacle at Goodison Park, but I've read it was a real battling, committed performance with the whole team basically being the complete opposite to what they were in the second half of the previous Wednesday against Consett.

Another of our fellow promotion challengers dispatched. Not the best performance but we looked solid as ever and got the goals when it mattered (albeit with the first one taking a massive deflection).
They did the trophy draw today as well, we've got Kings Lynn at home.

It was revealed in yesterday's Basildon Echo that Billericay Town manager Matt Jones has been relieved of his duties as manager at New Lodge, Town have also revealed that they are in no hurry to find a replacement and that caretakers Jason Broom and Grant Gordon will take temporary charge.
It has been quite a poor season by Billericay's standards especially seeing as how close they came last year to gaining promotion to the Blue Square South losing out to Bromley in the play-off finals.
My guess for their next manager: George Borg.
