We lost 3-0 to Evesham in a game we never looked like getting anything from. Sounds like there's still a bit of work for us to do if we want to finish amongst the playoff places.

Not posted in here for a while but Chelmsford have now opened up a 3 point gap at the top of the Ryman Prem, and after getting dumped out of the FA Trophy and the FA Cup, City were also knocked out of the Ryman League Cup on Tuesday against a very tricky AFC Sudbury side with City losing 2-1, even more worrying was that City fielded a near strength side, but were City really bothered about this competition I wonder? This now leaves just the league to concentrate on now for City, which is really their main priority tbf.
Whilst City are three points ahead of Hendon and to which they have a game in hand over, there are teams below Hendon who have games in hand over City namely Staines, Wimbledon, Ramsgate and Horsham, although both Staines and Horsham involvement in the Cup could prove to be to City's advantage that remains to be seen however.
In other City news they have re-signed former City favourite Ollie Berquez from Maldon Town. Ollie signed for Maldon as a player coach after leaving Woking (or was it Stevenage can't remember?!), but returned this week after an approach by Jeff King. Ollie made his debut for City under former manager Gary Bellamy along side the likes of Tesfaye Bramble and Ben Fuller before being linked to a move to Kidderminster and eventually signing for Canvey and do quite well.
The odds (according to Skybet) have City as the favourites to win the Ryman Prem with an ever improving AFC Wimbledon second:-
Really don't know how we didn't win that game, went 1-0 down right on half time but totally dominated the 2nd half, got the equaliser quite early aswell. With the wind on our side the Stafford keeper struggled to get his goalkicks 1/3 of the pitch up in the 2nd half. We hit the post and came close several times, but near the end we could have lost it but for an outstanding save from Phillips

We scraped past Northwich 2-1, thanks to two goals from Super Scottie Rendell. He also managed to miss an open goal from literally two yards out, I'm not quite sure how he got it over the bar
I see another Conference manager has lost his job today - Billy McEwan at York. Was probably only a matter of time given their under achievement this season.

Yeah, always difficult these ones.
Billy has done wonders the last two seasons, and in pre-season we looked excellent, but things just didn't click this year and even the settled players, mainstays of the last two years like McGurk and Panther, have vastly under-performed. We've often dominated matches, but lost by two or three goals instead.
Part of me thinks McEwan had earned the chance to put it right, but another thinks he had taken us as far as he could and his obvious tactical limitations were making us too easy for any team that did it's research.

Well done to the ex Ducks Steve Cordery, Craig Maskell, Danny Gordon, Gareth Risbridger, Dwayne Clarke and James Courtnage for their penalty shootout victory over Stockport with Staines.
Risbridger is one of my favourite past ducks players and a genuine top bloke and class player
Gordon and Clarke were part of the team robbed by the ref in our 1st round loss to Port Vale a few years ago so well done to them.
