I can't believe you're insulting Ingram!! If it weren't for him we'd have gone bankrupt 2 years ago & at best would be playing at a much lower level than we're at atm. So if nothing else he's give us 2/3/4 extra years of football to enjoy (I use that term loosely at times!!).
Fact is he deserves to recoup some of the millions he's put into the club. He's gone far beyond the call of duty at times, including lending huge amounts of his personal art collection to Woking council for the new lightbox in an attempt to 'get them onside'.
| Then Ingram should have let us go under, at least then we wouldnt be operating beyond our means to the tune of £500k a year. We might also have been playing some exciting football for a change!!! Yes he deserves to recoup his money but the way in which he's doing it is not in the best interests of the football club.
As for the council, Ingram is simply trying to manipulate them for his own personal gain. Since the early 90's they have constantly backed the football club, They bought a £1.7 million stand. In the mid 90s when we were trying to sign steve foster, Phil Ledger refused to release the funds for him initially. So Geoff went to the council (who were sponsering us at the time) to get the money (~£28,000 iirc) as an extension of the sponsorship. Council agreed but it was only through sheer embarassment that the football club paid for him. More recently an agreement always was in place to lend the club £1,000,000 and develop Kingfield should we get into the league. Obviously now this agreement is void due to ingrams plans </BLOCKQUOTE>
Why should Ingram have let us go to the wall? Would you have been happy that the club went bust? He's an honest supporter of this football club that stepped in when all else failed. Now he wants to get us standing on our own two feet, and he is on record for stating I believe that he won't take a penny back until the club is turning over a profit. Is that good enough for you?
I suggest if you have any grievances with him, you go and take them out at the fans forum tomorrow - Ingram, Taylor, Lippiatt, Gray and Hutchinson will all be present, and the subject of the redevelopment will of course be discussed. 7.30pm start, everyone welcome.

I still don't know what you are trying to get at? The money goes back into the club, which owes "loans" to Ingram (donations which has kept the club afloat, which Ingram claims he won't take the majority of it back.)
The plans are to make the club self-sustainable so Ingram doesn't have to write off the annual losses each year. There's no reason to believe that Ingram is a crook who is in it for the money, why the hell would he have wasted in excess of £3m in keeping the club afloat if so, and spend many millions more with this development. The agreement in place with the council would supply £1m more - that would give us a small stand at best. The deal to sell the land so the club can build facilities to have a club in the town for the future in exchange for writing off the agreement is a shrewd one for both WFC and WBC.
The board don't believe Ingram is "purely a twat whos in it for the money" as you say, the council don't believe it, and every fan apart from you doesn't seem to believe it. So I don't see why you have this hidden agenda against him, because your arguments are pure folly that have no base to them whatsoever.

We have an excellent record with goalkeepers.
Shame about the outfield players, but oh well |

We should just change the thread title to the Woking Discussion Thread tbh Anyway, in other news, Jimmy Quinn has signed a new contract. I wasn't his biggest fan to begin with, but to be fair he's taken us a long way in a relatively short space of time. Hopefully he will see out his new contract, it would be nice to go more than two years without changing the manager, don't think we've done that so far this millenium. Quote:
Jimmy Quinn has put an end to speculation about his future by signing a new contract to 2010.
The U's boss has recently been linked with a number other clubs, including Football League clubs Gillingham and Port Vale, but he stated his desire to stay at the Abbey Stadium and Chairman Lee Power revealed several weeks ago that talks were already underway to extend Quinn's contract.
Assistant manager Alan Lewer, who joined the club in May, has signed a similar new deal, bringing a great deal of stability to the football side of the club with United placed fourth in the table and aiming to make progress both on and off the pitch.
"I'm delighted that the Board have faith in me to take the club through the next two and a half years," Quinn told cambridgeunited.com after penning his new deal.
"It's not been easy a lot of the time, and our progress is down to a lot of hard work that has gone on behind the scenes. The Chairman and Paul Barry and Adrian Hanauer are all involved and they all want to see the club progress, and there are a lot of people who have gone through bad times here.
"There's a bit of light at the end of the tunnel now and I, along with the players and the fans, want to play my part in that and bring back the glory days to the club.
"This is a lovely club and with good planning and organisation and the right people on board I think we can keep moving forward," Quinn added. | |
