Result

Gainsborough 1 Blyth Spartans 0

Some feedback on the game - sounds like it's been a disappointing performance from what the lads said on Spartan's forum.

went to bath city - eastleigh tonight for our first home game of the season.

Missed the Bromley game, though I hear despite snatching a last minute goal to get the draw, a draw was a fair result.

Bath City 2 - 0 Eastleigh

excelent result, starting the new season at home with a win and clean sheet. Every games an unknown atm, having just been promoted to the conference south. Which could be seen as good, as teams dont know much about us, or bad as we know little about them, and its a step up.

But if we play like tonight, taking the game to the opposition and dominating possesion we will do well. Bath played good football, some lovely passing moves, at times slick. McKeever on the left played some great balls in the box, he will be essential for us, his creativity is a step above this level.

Upfront we missed a couple of good chances, strikers were not on it. But with Scott Partridge on the way back, anouther top quality non league player, it could all fit into place.

The first goal came from our left back captain, a strong shot arrowed into the bottom corner from the edge of the box. The second came early in the 2nd from a pinpoint cross accross the box by mckeever leaving Edwards a simple finish.

Theres promising signs from the team, with partridge to come back, and our consistant goalkeeper evans due to be fit in a match or two.

The last couple of seasons in the conference south has seen newly promoted clubs challenge and get promotion in their first season.

It would be a lot to ask, with many challenges to come, but based on tonight Bath city could be a good bet to be in the top 5, with a playoff chance.

A long way to go though. long way.

We beat Farsley Celtic 1-0 in a pretty unconvincing manner really. Against a newly promoted side I was hoping we'd win by a good couple of goals but we were poor apart from the first 10 minutes or so where we really took the game to them. We weren't really in danger of conceding apart from a couple of points during the second half when we were half asleep(as usual at the beginning of the second half).

Biggest cheer was for the linesman on the left near side who, when the referee went off with a hamstring injury managed to keep his flag up for around 5 minute, a pretty valiant effort. Credit to the hardy 20 Farsley fans who made the trip down.

4 points from 6, unbeaten so I'm happy with that, now the performances just need to be upped when we face some tougher opposition at home so that we take our chances.

Scrappy doesn't begin to cover it! Boro are so good!!!...in their own half

1st 15 minutes of the second half was good with Lewis cracking one against the post and Boro looking more lively, then they completely dropped off! Very lucky to get a winner, scarcely deserved - it was Arber who scored it by the way

Hopefully it'll settle them down for the Weymouth game on Saturday

Herts if we could play that sort of football 30 yards further up the field we would tear some teams to shreds.

Morison's miss :o

Drew 2-2 with Alty tonight. 2 mistakes from us our keeper should have got sent off.

Hopefully we can kick our season on against Histon.

The only problem though is we get to the halfway line, Henry or Miller will look up, everyone's marked so they just go back and back all the way to Julian who then hoofs it to around the halfway line and the process repeats again. Occasionally we get through, but it's pretty rare.

Did you notice Julian wincing after every kick he made? Seemed like a groin injury to me
