Bish have been on the local news! We've been given some floodlights from Man Utd (they obviously don't need them anymore) to use at the new ground. Man Utd invited applications from non-league clubs and we're one of the few clubs that managed to 'impress'.
Don't know what each club had to write on their applications but there you go. Thanks.

Im going to Boyds return next tuesday, hopefully a similar scoreline.
We did play well, no glaring errors, Julian made a few decent saves first half, Miller ran the 1st half, Cole giving Bruce all kinds of trouble including bringing him down for the penalty in the 1st half.
Thought Ipswich would come out a bit better the second half, especially with Boro making 10 changes (would have been 11 but Santos Gaia had to go on before half-time to replace Arber) but Allen's goal at the start of the second half killed them.
We kept possession pretty well, even passing among the back four without looking like we were going to give it away. Used the wings well, good tempo, full-backs got forward as well when they could which was good to see.
Ipswich on the other hand were truly woeful. Lee looked disinterested, de Vos was terrible, Bruce and Supple nearly came to blows after the 3rd goal, causing Magilton to haul Bruce off. Only Haynes and Garvan really made any effort whilst everyone else looked like they were still on their holidays.
Still, the midfield looks good, upfront we look like we have more than just Morison to rely on, Cole could have a fantastic season if all goes well

Good result for City last night as they held Championship side Ipswich Town to a 2-2 draw. Ipswich fielded a number of first teamers.
City went 2-0 up with goals from Kezie Ibe and Jamie England, before Ipswich levelled through an own goal by City defender Andy Duncan and a late strike from Sammy Moore.
The Ipswich team included first teamers Richard Naylor, Fabian Wilnis, Sito Castro, Sylvain Legwinski, Gary Roberts and Billy Clarke, so not a bad result for City at all.
Attendance was 1,383.
Also Ross and herts I'm still scratching my head as to why Southend let Mitchell Cole go, I thought he was a quality player, will definitely do a good job for you, and you may even have trouble keeping hold of him, could well turn out to be the next Michael Kightly.

Haha, Andy Duncan is a bit of an own goal specialist, scored some crackers against us over the years. Aiden Collins is quality, and if it wasn't for his knees being totally shot I'm sure we'd have kept him. He'll do well for Chelmsford.
We beat St Neots 4-1 on Tuesday. Not a great performance but the squad looked fit after a week in the army barracks and there seems to be good team spirit this year. Plymouth on Saturday at the wembley of the fens should be a stiffer test.

Thought we were terrible for most of the first half tbh. Second was mostly much better tho. </BLOCKQUOTE>
you were there? aww man, here's me thinking I knew what you looked like. Even the first half I thought was OK tbh, very solid defensively. New keeper looked fairly assured - made a change from the usual Route One merchant anyway

It did seem a strange one when we signed him as he had a big reputation in non-league football and to drop from Championship to Non-league seemed strange. However when he first joined he seemed to lack severe fitness and maybe thats a reason as to why Southend let him go. Also he only signed an 18 month contract when he joined, so if he has a good season he will probably be gone next summer.
