Basically my DVD drive is capable of writing DVD-R media at 16x.

I have a blank 16x DVD-R in the tray but the maximum speed which it says it can write the disc is only 4x

I've updated the drives firmware to the latest version but still the same.

The DVD drive is this one.

The DVD-R media is this one.

What software are you using to burn said disc ? Is there a setting within that software which can alter the speed of burnage ?

Although, tbf, the 16x is really only the MAXimum rate at which the drive will write - it'll rarely reach that speed in reality.

Finally got it to write at 16x, i had to basically edit my drives firmware to accept 16x as a rate of transfer for the particular type of disk i'm using.
