Yep, I think when Varney's fit Pards has him in mind as our first choice striker. So presumably someone like Bent or Iwelumo would partner him.

Hope JT is back tomorrow, need some width on the left

Yeah I think it'll be McLeod and Bent tomorrow, Varney in for McLeod when he's back.

I'd like to see Thomas on the left, Sam on the right, Semedo and Reid in the middle. Ambrose seems to go missing too much in the middle, and Reid is better off there and can create more chances.

Would like to see Fortune/Bougey at the back tomorrow.

1) Fortune is against an old club who he rejected the chance to move too. Hopefully he'll knick a winner

2) I'm not sure of McCarthy

Good point except for the fact that we're awful from corners and set pieces, apart from a few decent shots at goal direct from the free kick taker. Its something we really need to improve.

Two foreign consortia are locked in a £50m battle to take over Charlton. (Independent)
What does everyone think about this possible takeover talk? Its got to be right for the club, don't want someone that just wants to make money or stay until they're bored, and we could see things like ticket prices go up a lot if the current board leave and have nothing to do with the club.

A consortium headed by a Nigerian and another group head by a Russian according to this.

It also says it would mean the first African to own an English club, they seem to have forgotten Al Fayed is Egyptian.

Yeah, Bents two performances have been miles away from anything he's produced for us before. If he keeps it up there's no reason why he can't be an important player for us this year. Still not a fan of the guy though.

When we paid £2.5m for him Moyes got it right when he said "It represents a good profit for us for an average player".

I can see what Curbishley was thinking, he'd get a few goals, hold up the ball and win it in the air, already played with Darren Bent and others at Ipswich, and depending which games you watch him in he works hard.
