They were all turning up with their vouchers though tbf, had the carvery been full price then I suspect that things might have been different. That said, I can see your point.

Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares *New Series* Post #372
Wasn’t impressed by the last episode. The chefs in the programme normally fall one of two clichés. They’re either genuinely talented but have ‘lost their passion’ or they are arrogant pretentious morons who think they’re talented. Either way, fair game for Ramsey to pull apart. But, this fella was neither…just hopelessly out of place and Ramsey would have seen that in 30 seconds, and if he’d been honest with everyone he should have got rid of him straight away. Obviously though, the humiliation and p*ss taking makes for much better TV.

I doubt it, because that would have made good TV too (and backed up the point about the owner not being realistic). I just think they wanted the fun of having him **** up that initial relaunch so they could then have the general manager come in to the rescue.

yeh, pretty sure if he were failrly competent and capable of being a good sous chef, then they'd just have highlighted how pointless it was to have somebody who was good, but not a leader as head chef, with somebody who's a very good head chef in front of house.

That one in Brighton, Mama Cherie's Soul Food Shack or something, did pretty well. One of the few where Gordon actually liked the food when he first arrived there, too.

Have to agree with this, although I'll admit I found the episode thoroughly entertaining.
I expect Ramsay/C4/the production company to defend it by pointing out the the chef must have signed a release form. However, you obviously never know how something is going to be edited when you sign that form. Stuff like playing the Adams Family tune and describing him as 'one of the most gormless chefs I've ever met' in the voiceover was pretty harsh.

few mates of mine have been there a few times since it was featured, they really enjoyed it.
