Default What have you done with your degree?

not literally ofc, I have no interest in where your grubby certificate is (do you get a certificate? is that what it is? I've no idea). I mean what use has it been in getting you where you are now.

I've never really put any thought into what career I'm going to enter after uni. Actually, it's more that I've never had any idea what I would like to do. A series of uninspiring results and wrong decisions later, I find myself potentially graduating with a degree in Environmental Science next summer, and right now all the buzz around uni is jobs, careers, jobs, careers, jobs etc etc.

I've been frantically trying to research different sectors of work to actually try and find some inspiration for what I want to do. My very vague idea at the moment is that I want to get involved in the finance sector (accountancy sounds dandy), and that possibly teaching could be a back-up career. That's no disrespect to any teachers, it's just from my limited reading so far, to have any chance of doing anything in the finance sector, you need a 2:1. Doable, but because of my previous years results, difficult. As far as I can tell, 2:2 is an okay route into teaching.

There's also all these other options... further study, conversion courses, a career in something actually related to my course. It's quite overwhelming tbh. Basically I know what I have to be doing - getting a detailed clue about the possibilites, striving to get the best degree classification I can, probably start applying for some positions now (seeing as deadlines are fast approaching).

I'm just wondering how other people felt at this stage of the final year? Did you know exactly what you wanted to do? Were you applying left, right and centre now? Or did you focus on your degree and look to a career afterwards?

What classification did you actually get? And how far has it got you?

Atm I have this kind of uneasy feeling that if I can get a 2:1, the world's my oyster so to speak, but if I end up with a 2:2, it's going to be a long, hard, struggle.

Nothing at all.

I got a 2:2 in Maths, and IBM offered me a job based on a gap year placement I did for them. They didn't give a toss.

Hopefully getting a 2.1 myself, currently on Placement. Doing an IT for Business degree and working in an IT job for 3M now.

When I graduate I won't be staying in IT but hope to use the fact that I actually have a degree to get a job.

At the moment I'm looking into retail management as I like the fact paced atmosphere. Don't like office jobs!

2.1 undergrad. Distinction in my masters.

Both essential in getting me to where I am now.

Nothing, if you don't count the vague advantage of just having one. Work in a completely unrelated area now.
