Coventry boss Gary McAllister is set to take goalkeeper Steve Banks on trial from Bolton, following an injury to Frenchman Fabien Audard.
Audard is currently on trial at Highfield Road and was supposed to play in Tuesday's friendly with Port Vale, but missed out with a shoulder injury.
McAllister has now turned his attention to 30-year-old Trotters shot-stopper Banks, who he hopes will provide stiff competition for Audard, before making a final decision on which keeper to sign.
Audard is expected to be fit for Saturday's trip to Rushden & Diamonds for The Sky Blues' final pre-season friendly clash before kicking off the new campaign.
Banks, who has not had a look in at the Reebok Stadium under Sam Allardyce, made just one Premiership appearance last season but could be in line for a place on the bench at Rushden.
City will be left with the inexperience of Morten Hyldgaard and Gary Montgomery when Magnus Hedman's transfer to Celtic is finally sealed, which is why McAllister is anxious to bring in a new goalkeeper
