They finished third in the Combined Counties at their first attempt, and then walked both the Combined Counties Premier and Isthmian Division one in successive seasons. No higher than fourth so far in the Premier yet, and don't look like getting further this season either

Still, their reputation will stay high (compared to other teams in the Isthmian Leagues) so AFC probably gets the same reputation in FM09.

They did came through in my save in the first seasonupdate, ended 4th, but are now fighting a relegationbattle in the BSS

In FM07 I found it quite entertaining to play a couple of seasons with them. Their reputation seemed to be a bit higher than other Conference North/South teams but at the Conference National there were bigger fish already.

So, honestly, complaining that they're "easier" than others seems a bit non-LLM-like to me. After all, even River Plate or the mighty Roma are fair game.

If clubs took the attitude of "well we'll never win the league, let's offer them a crazy sum for doing it" we'd see a lot of clubs having a surprisingly good season then going out of business. For LL teams I think it's a bad addition. That said you started with a team bigger than the division, so having to dish out more money than you're earning was to be expected.

I wish my team had 600k to give away in bonus's. It's terribly unrealistic to go half a mill in debt to cover a couple of bonuses. No offense but its also a bit naive of the manager to offer it to the players.

I remember in this years rugby world cup the RFU forgot to insure the bonuses if the English team won. If England had won they would of had to stump up £2mill. However if they had insured it I think the payment would of been far smaller. I would of thought that football teams would take the same approach to their bonus systems.

I'm kinda split on how it works really.. if you are expected to win the league then should the bonus be high or low? I'm not trying to tip here.

If you put it high then I guess the players have something extra to play for (whether that happens in game or not i don't know). However at the same time if you expect to do well shouldn't the bonuses be low as the players will only be meeting with expectations?

This doesn't really affecting me, my team is too poor to offer anything but a paltry bonus anyway.

No, it's stupid of the board to allow the manager to offer it

Yes, its also naive of the manager to give it anyway.

Anyway, I fell down a similar trap when I was doing my '08 test season. Didn't realize all the bonus came from the balance. Live and learn..

Err. Where was it supposed to come from then?

The manager shouldn't be occupied with finances. So if the board offers me 100 million, I'll spend it if needed to get results. It's the board's fault if that results in the club going broke. They are responsible for financial constraints. I am not.

I don't even remember it saying that it would be 600k! I don't remember offering it surely, I think it gives choices like high medium or low doesn't it?

Anyways I am on "some sort" of challenge, and I rolled a die to pick which team, and told myself I'd stick to whichever one the die chose for me. It's not a life changer, I'm just waiting for the full patch to come out.
