Default The Road to the Premiership (or not) The Bristol City thread 07/08

There hasnt been a Bristol City thread on here for a few years, but with the new signing of Ivan Sproule and last season gaining promotion to the Championship its time to start one (for the 3 of us that are city fans).

Anyway might be time for foreign investors for us as reported here - Sunday Mirror and in the News of the World (I know not trusted sources). I would welcome any investment into the club and one this size would push us towards the premiership which is something I have never imagined.

Squad
1 GK Adriano Basso
2 DF Bradley Orr
4 DF Liam Fontaine
5 DF Jamie McCombe
6 DF Louis Carey (captain)
7 MF Scott Murray
8 MF David Noble
9 FW Steve Brooker
10 FW Phil Jevons
11 FW Kevin Betsy
14 MF Cole Skuse
15 FW Enoch Showunmi
16 DF Richard Keogh
17 MF Alex Russell
18 DF Jamie McAllister
20 DF David Partridge
22 GK Chris Weale
23 MF Brian Wilson
26 FW Jennison Myrie-Williams
27 MF Frankie Artus
28 DF James Wilson
33 MF Lee Johnson
TBA FW Tristan Plummer
TBA GK Stephen Henderson
TBA MF Ivan Sproule

Bristol City play at Ashton Gate in the south-west of Bristol, just south of the River Avon. The ground has an all-seated capacity of about 21,500, with an effective capacity (depending on how many away tickets are allocated, and how they are segregated) of around 19,100. It was the home of Bedminster F.C. until the 1900 merger, and the merged team played some games there the following season, but it did not become the permanent home of Bristol City until 1904. (Taken from wiki)

So how will we end up this season? As long as we are not relegated for me it will have been a good season. Personnally I think we need at least 3 more signings, 2 Strikers and a defender, dont know much about Ivan Sproule but from the videos I have seen he looks and exciting player with tons of pace.

Mon the reds!

One more striker and I think we'll be properly equipped to survive. Sproule looks frighteningly speedy. \o/

Sproule is nothing but a sprinter. The amount of times he ends up with easy chances and misses the target is shocking. Also wound up really easily and picks up loads of silly bookings

Seriously though you'll stay up with relative ease in the end imo. Hope someone from the westcountry does well in a higher division

Weren't Bristol City in the top division a few years back? I'm talking 70s or 80s maybe?

Always had a bit of a soft spot for The Robins, mainly down to the fact I use to be them in an old Speccy game called The Double!

Seriously hope you do well this season, and like Matt said you should have enough to keep you up.

Good Luck anyway.
