I've always, in previous incarnations of the game, chosen to manage a lower league team. Usually Aldershot or Farnborough as they are local to me. But always used tips and player searches etc...

I've noticed Dafuges challenge. i.e. go on holiday for a year then manage one of the newly promoted clubs.

I want to do this using LLM rules and I've seen there is some grey area regarding the transfer lists. I want to ask other LLMs what they would do in the following situation:

You inherit a team of greys with a few kids in it, no staff and no money.

Do you, a: Go to the job centre and advertise for scouts and staff wait a week for applicants hire some scouts and set assignments. Wait another week or three before your scouts come back with possible players and go into the season with a few new signings and lots of greys and kids?

or, b: use the staff search facility to find some decent scouts and set them to scouting after only a couple of days in to the game?

I would always go with option a) 100%.

Thanks for the opinions. It'll be a long season by the sounds of it I'll be using the job centre.

The grey area is from what I read in the FAQs at the top of this forum.

But I want realism so I'll be giving the search screen a miss and see how I fair with Banbury

Go with option a).

I remember reading a discussion where some Llamas were suggesting that using the transfer list is ok, as a version of this exists in real life. I think it was Nobby and another well respected member too.

Anyway, I figure they're old school Llamas, so I'd follow their lead.

But your being a tad optimistic if you're expecting to hire a scout within a week or two.

More like 2-3 months if your lucky.

phnompenhandy, yes I can sign my greys. I think that would be my first step... but their stats are awful, of course any player coming to a BSS team would be pretty bad.

Sancho, this is the issue I intend to address with my new game. There just seemed to be split opinions with regard to the 'transfer list' search screen in the FAQs. I see now that there is only one and that is LLaMas don't use player/staff search!!

It seems pretty unanimous that the job centre route is the way forward. Hopefully I can avoid relegation and have a better platform to build on in the following season(s)
