I've just started a game in deepest, darkest Bulgaria. No scout, two real (carp) players on the books, a handful of youthies (carp) and NO scout. Just about no staff at all actually.

It may be a futile task but hey, it'll be fun.

I've played 5 league games mostly with greys and about 4 signings I've made. To my surprise I've got 4 points from those 5 games!

I've decided not to sign any of my greys as they seem to be the same players each match and I'm hoping to get better real players in.

Is there a difference when signing a grey between his performance before signing and performance after?

If that last sentence is deemed as tipping or something please ignore

Is the registration window working normally there? I've had issues in Turkey, and seen that there are problems in various countries with registration according the bugs forum.

What problems have you had. I've only just started and my first window hasn't closed yet. The rules say I can register 99 players before the window closes.

Admitedly this is my first game in a country with such a rule and am unfamiliar with the whole process.

The Job Center Works In 08.

Never had it not work, you usually get carp but hey it works. Scouts work fine as well. Admittedly the reports you get are apparently a bit dodgey until the beta patch but it was fixed and it all seems fine now

To add my tuppence, I have had no issues with the job centre, it works fine for me, albeit the applicants have not been applying in their collective droves.

If only one or two apply then I ask them to join, carp or no.

Scout and coach reports have been addressed in the beta patch and it now works much better. No longer do I have 18 out of my 22 players as 'the best player in the squad', I have none

Job centre looks all fine and dandy for me too... but I've only used it in the demo in 08, haven't had to in my save yet.

The game is seriously flawed at a number of levels and in a number of areas.

I found there was a problem with the job centre in the demo. This seems to be non-existant in the full game and the job centre, (you will be glad to hear), seems to work exactly how it should :thup:.

There are two areas that people in here may find an issue with.

(1) is that there appears to be a "confidence bug" which affects teams that gain promotion early and in doing so exceed the boards long term objective. If you are given 2 years to "achieve a respectable mid table finish", and somehow aquaplane your way to promotion in the first year, the board often forget that you have moved up a division, and then refuse to offer you a contract when you struggle in your 2nd season and only narrowly avoid relegation :thdn:.

(2) is that there is a bug that is linked to lower league attendances/finances. It involves a greatly reduced average attendance after a reasonable season, that impacts greatly upon the finances generated, but the lack of income doesn't seem to register with the board who still hold you at fault for poor financial control, despite not spending a penny on players, (my scout only finds carp ones), and still being under wage budget. If I haven't spent any money, and I'm still within the budget that the board set, how can the poor financial performance of the club be levelled at me :thdn:.

There are other issues like, loads and loads and loads of goals, my GK getting sent off still isn't a key highlight, and by declaring myself as Irish and N.Irish I am somehow given French knowledge, but it's the top 2 that are the "game-breakers".

My advice to anyone who is contemplating an "upgrade" is to continue with FM07 at least until the first proper patch, abd then review the situation then, Although the game is broken to me, I'm still not able to go back to FM07 and am stuck in FM limbo .

Heh I guess I kinda did this without knowing. Started as Marine who just got promoted to Blue Square North.
About 9 of my first team were under 18 or over 32 haha

Did just about scrape survival but got sacked at the end of the season anyway. Chairman must have been unhappy when the proposed takeover bid fell through
