Trying to create a basic circular ripple effect around the bottom of a letter, much like throwing a stone in to a pond, had a good look round the web but couldnt find a fairly basic line effect, Any ideas !!!!
Try one of PS's built in filters for a start. Filter > Distort > ZigZag and set it to Pond Ripples. If you need the effect of perspective, as if the ripple is on a horizontal surface, make a rectangular selection where in the width is much greater than the height.
Welcome Snooty - good question and you are in excellent hands with Welles however, always remember, helping you would be more effective if you would post the problem. For example I don't know wether you are speaking about a bitmap or vector image. Each has a different way to accomplish your goals. Also there is an issue about the surrounding background, what's going on, etc. you can see how difficult it is to read your problem correctly.
An Aside to newcomers: Some new to psg think if they post the problem they are indirectly asking us to do it for them - no worries, Those requests are usually overlooked unless they are for a very good reason. So give us a sample of your problem for more responsive answers.
This is what im trying to achieve.(have played with pond ripple tool)
but am looking for almost a sketched ripple effect running off the bottom of some lettering, so if you image the lettering is a stone as it hits the water and the ripple effect runs off the front. this image will then be exported in front of the words in an illustrator file.
Have you seen such an effect somewhere on the web or do you have an image you can provide to give us a specific idea of what you are after? After your last post, my feeling was to draw the image in Illustrator if you want a sketch but I don't know that I'm sure what you really want to see. \:]
