Ian, this has nothing to do with the guidelines. I'd love to know how things happen at a RL club too.
Of course it's very hard to simulate correctly in FM, and the guidelines do that just fine. No one wants to change the guidelines, at least from what I understood.

Ian,
there is _one_ interesting point in this thread though. Discussions about how things are done in real life, maybe even experiences with it.
It's interesting from an LLM(Real) perspective, even if you can't put it into LLM(FM) world.

Rep Power: 0 | to be honest Barside, I wasn't even thinking of that, I'm not interested in validating/establishing how LLM compares to RL, or a sticky to prevent people doing the -
"..but in real lower league, they do blah, blah .... so we should be allowed blah,blah..".
Using the search function shows a million of these types of threads, and the people who start them are invariably the type to ignore stickys.
I just thought a general topic on RL lower league football could be interesting, give some of us an insight into the real thing, and maybe even be useful e.g. the other thread with the discussion on training, has made me re-think my training schedules in-game. That doesn't mean I want it to become an established guideline, just a personal preference.

So, if it isn't LLM then it's Off Topic...take it to the OT thread.

| I wouldn't have said that that was tipping, as there was no advice given. It was more along the lines of what is more realistic, and therefore more LLM. Although, that's just my P.O.V.

/me, having been in the OT thread before reading this one, is suddenly aware why Britney's tits appeared there.
For the record, I agree with the Cosmo-poof. RL LLM is interesting as a topic as it fills in the bits we might not necessarily be aware of as to what actually is realistic, rather than what we think is realistic.

I'm sure it has been said before but basically Football Manager is a game, LLM is a set of guidelines and ethics to help you play the game as realistically as possible within those set of guidelines. It's a game, a very very addictive game I might add, and even if we play it as realistically as possible, its a game, if it was real it'd be called a job (or a daydream) and be no fun at all because thats work..
We can go on all day about trying to add more realism and playing it as realistically as possible but how far do you want to go? 24-7 Real time simulation? Thats where threads like these are going. Soon your going to be wanting natural disasters coded in for realism as well as a moonlighting feature if your not making enough money to support your manager.
Play the game in the box to the LLM guidlines and make sure you have fun [I}playing[/I] it, even if the opposing goalscorer scores a goal when then bounces over your GK's head...

Eureka! Now I also understand why Britney's tits appeared in the OT topic...
As long as we're discussing how it is for real LL clubs, as I think we are here, I don't have any problems with it. It's been an interesting read I think.
To align FM LLM more with RL LLM it would be great with trial-days where you could sign players. I'm not sure how that would be implemented though. There would in effect be two different transfer systems. Where to draw the line between them? How decide what club a player contacts if there are more than one in his local area? It would probably be unworkable with anything than a large database too. No problem for most of us, but surely for some others that don't play lower-league according to the LLM guidelines and ethos.
