Managing in Iceland and fielding a team without any -ssons in it is quite a challenge.
Though I actually laughed out loud when I came across a guy whose name ended in -dottir due to the way regens work.
(I'm aware this is borderline player naming, mods feel free to punish me at your discretion)

| That's because Icelander male surnames take the christian name of their father and add sson to the end.
So (and no intentional player naming here, apologies if one happens to be a player) for example, if Gunnar Brynjarsson and his good lady had a child and it was a boy, they would give him a christian name of their choosing and his surname would be Gunnarsson.

Odd to see a -dottir though as that means daughter. Bloody FRED's can't even get their gender right let alone play football.

and his patroname would be Gunnarsson
| fixed.
It's bloody confusing getting used to it when you marry into an Icelandic family too!! Having a wife with one patroname, and add two parent-in-laws and a brother-in-law not to mention all the countless aunts, uncles, cousins etc and you soon lose all track.
Then the wife doesn't change her name when she marries, so convincing people that we're not just living together can be fun, and return to Iceland with a son who is named Jones and not Davidsson... ah forget it!! Bloody stupid country |

| They can also add -sson to the christian name of their mother, though that's a far less common practice.

| There's probably a female physio or other staff member in one of the clubs, so her surname got dumped in the regen pool along with all the male patronyms.
