I believe I read somewhere in the bugs forum that this is being looked at for the patch. Youth players being paid more than your amature first teamers and taking up all your wage budget was an issue for me in a Spanish save I gave up recently as well.
I messed around with a Danish amateur team on the demo but didn't notice the primary issue stated.
I have noticed the rediculous wages given to youth team players, though. In 07 you could get rid of them no worries - now, you have to pay them compo. However if that is true to life then I'll happily put up with that.
I think that it is tuned to be realistic for the upper levels primarily - when you're at a Prem side and your first team are making 50k a week, you still get youth teamers on 100-300.
I'm always struck in my finances when I see my wage budget at 1million a week and it sees the need to tell me that 1500 quid of that is from youth grants

The way FM runs they lose money arse over tit in maintenance for Hampden, and if they get promotion then the AI board turn them professional.
Of course, in football Queen's Park are an anomaly.
What was the question again?
I played with Queen's Park in the 08 demo, and was given £800,000 in the first season, which I have found out since matches the amount the Scottish FA pay to use Hampden for the year.
To answer Brian, I also had a problem with having a lot of my players join other teams on part time deals, though it were other Scottish clubs in the league system (some even in the First Division), not non league teams.
