| Yep, they are up there in the UK, but have very limited international recognition. They are fine if you intend to stay in the UK.
Europe wise, thyer a re competing with the likes of IMD (Switzerland) and INSEAD (France) which are 2 very very good schools, competitive with LBS

So Hoista if you had a choice of MBA school, would you choose LBS or Judge?

Hoista, is a 1 year program a must for you?
I'm pretty sure it is, given the dearth of top US schools in your list. if you go for a more traditional program, let me know - an MBA is something on my horizon, perhaps.

| 1 year program is a preference... but considering a 20 month one in the US, but only if its a top school (top 15). Otherwise its a waste of money imo. Although looking at some of the internships that some of the top schools students get, it looks more promising. All the stats are on the page.
Will wait for my GMAT results before i check out the US schools properly... Although, Ross, Columbia, Stern, Wharton, etc. are on the list of schools to check out.
Currently INSEAD - singapore campus, is my top choice... GMAT ave 701, and also requires you to have 2 languages... English + 1 other at a practical level ( I have Japanese)... and you have to acquire a 3rd languange at a Basic level(should be able to do Mandarin/French for this quite easily) before you get your MBA diploma.
Andy... most schools require you to have at least 2 or 3 years worth of postgraduate work experience, preferably where the work shows progression in responsibility. Average years of work experience for acceptance is usually 4 or 5, although exceptional fresh graduates could get accepted, but they are usually few in number.
One of the key activities in MBA programs is sharing experiences of the workplace in dealing with issues and projects. That's why diversity is an important criteria for school selection. For ecxample, NUS (National Uinversity of Singapore) has over 70% of students as foreign... however the vast majority of them are from India, and from the IT world, this gives limited diversity when doing case studies or projects as most of the students have had similar experiences as opposed to a school where you get people from different countries working in different functions across different industries.

re: my MBA - it's something far out (late 20s) and would be dependent on so many factors that I don't even know yet.
from those schools, I know that quality of life will be quite high at Ross (Ann Arbor probably the best town in all of Michigan tbqh), while Stern and Columbia will be qg too. Wharton is obviously Wharton, nothing needs to be said there.
what about anything on the West Coast? Stanford? isn't Kellogg pretty good too? of course there's Harvard, as well...

The ranking will probably changed over time. I suspect some of the top non-US schools will improve dramatically in the coming years, particularly because of the growing power houses that are China and India. The top US school will always be near the top, however their lack of diversity (in terms of nationalities covered) and their lower focus on global differences may put it at a disadvantage if their curriculums remain US-Centric.
One thing that may be seriously lacking in some of the US schools is the psychology of dealing with people from different communication cultures. Something which is necessary to understand when working on a global level. However the advantages the US schools have in terms of reputation and salary leverage is quite high atm. (Only a few schools in Europe can really comepte in those terms).
If your planning on doing the MBA later, some things to look at :- Extra curricular activities. Schools like interesting extra curriculars, they can be the difference between making you stand out, or making you fall into the crowd of unforgettables.
Uniqueness - you need to be able to write your essays, goals and career plan in a way which stands out.. They should be journalistic, direct and to the point with clear direction. They should not be academic, jargon-filled and indirect.
They also seem to like people who have a social conscious. Try doing some quick reading on Social Business Entrepeneurs (SBE's) to see what i mean.

Went to an MBA fair and got a big booklet which rated every single MBA course available in every country.
If its cash you're after, the UK is currently the place which is hiring MBA graduates with the highest salaries.. a clear $11,000 more than any other country. Average MBA graduate salary being $108,000. as opposed to France with $97,000
London has the highest individual packets, with some people getting over $300,000 on graduation. Signing on fees seem to be highest in the US, with $20-40k as a golden welcome being quite common.
