I've applied for history to Cambridge (Trinity), Durham, Warwick, Edinburgh and Bristol. It's all feeling a bit too 'real' now as I've received letters acknowledging my application and Cambridge have indicated when my interview will be and when I need to send essays into them. I'm beginning to get nervous about it all although it's probably very good news as I'm feeling much more motivated to get a lot of reading done and really ensure I properly prepare myself. It doesnt help, however, that I'm having 2nd thoughts about whether history is the right subject for me but it's too late to thinka about that for now so will just have to put it all to the back of my mind.
I was gutted when Cambridge rejected me.
I think the best attitude to take is to remember that the overwhelming probability is that you won't get in. Nothing personal about you, just that there's so many top class people that apply the chances you'll get in are very, very small.

When I applied for Cambridge I had no idea of the competition, I just assumed that because teachers had suggested it I could get in. Didn't do any preparation for the interview and it was only after the rejection that I actually realised that a place at Cambridge wasn't like any other university place and that I would have liked to have gone there and should have worked a bit. The only reason I'm annoyed for being rejected is that I know I may have had a chance if I had bothered about it.

Applying for UC Berkeley, UCLA, UC Davis, and UC Santa Barbara in November (in that order of preference). I'm fairly sure of getting into my top choice because I have a 4.0 in my community college coursework, and Californian community college transfers are given a great degree of preference over others seeking to transfer into the UC system.

A word of warning to all those thinking of coming to London. If you can't stand ridiculous numbers of asian rudeboi's and primitive international students, then don't apply. However, I will say this, London is the shizzle

I applied to Oxford on the basis that I wasn't even sure if I wanted to go, let alone expected to get a place. I thought to myself that I'd only make a decision whether I'd like to go there if I got an offer which I wasn't really expecting.
Having gotten my offer I kind of felt I had to take it up even if I was **** scared of going there. Went and it turned out it was the best decision I'd ever made in my life.

Sent off my UCAS the other day, applying to York, Warwick, Manchester, Loughborough and Newcastle, as planned all along. It all suddenly seems a bit real and scary now it's sent. Like all along it's been a bit weird and like it's not really happening but now I've sent off my applications it's bit of a big thing. Will be even scarier when I start getting letters/emails saying they've received my application.

I know exactly what you mean, it was so weird getting a letter from Cambridge acknowledging my application. Before that, it was all in some distant future never to be truly considered but now it's like '****, my interview's in 6 weeks...'. It's also quite exciting in a sense...

Yeah, I've no idea what the hell I'll chose if I get offers from all 5. Highly doubt I'll get offers from them all so I'll make the decision if it happens. As long as I get one offer from Manchester, Warwick or York, I'll be happy because they're the ones that im apply to as the better ones. Then Loughborough is a good mediocre one and Newcastle is worst case, even though I'd love to go to all 5.
