the university im going to (emory) is $50k a year, which is slightly above most top 20 schools... btw, umich is something like 45k a yr for out of state students (in ref to what someone said before).
btw, where u goin to uni andy?
| almost everyone applies to an Ivy League school?
I went to a very competitive prep school (average SAT somewhere around 1300 ignoring writing) where probably only 20 kids out of 90 applied to a single Ivy.
the vast, vast majority of kids that are applying to college are not applying to Ivy League schools. that's just wrong. I would argue that there are, at most, 50,000-60,000 applicants to Ivy League schools, almost all of whom are qualified (in terms of SAT score). the lack of standardized curriculum exams, like GCSEs and A-Levels, make admissions much more holistic at these top schools. ultimately, I suffered because of my background - my high school grades, though in the top 10% of my classes, were undistinguished compared to the inflated resumes of public school students, and as such my privileged background came back to bite me firmly in the ass.
I transferred from Dartmouth to Vanderbilt for sophomore year and will start in the fall, fwiw.

Is there a guide or anything that people are using where you can not only see courses but what the uni is like/what the city is like etc.
Just not sure how people are deciding where they want to go.

| i honestly have no idea about grades. it goes without saying that one of those would have to be english though, and there might be requirements for an A in that. media might be completely different though, you're best finding out a ballpark figure for what they want through ucas (i can't really remember how it all works) or by going on one of the numerous student forums that are about.
the women are above average in my humble opinion - simply due to the fact the town has a large student population. i am normally living in a different town where being 15-stone+ is very much in vogue though so my reference point is probably easy competition. also i don't know for sure but i reckon there's a 60:40 or thereabouts female:male ratio too.

| I happen to be reading the Sussex Prospectus atm - there are quite a few that want BBB, but it all really depends on how popular the course you want to do is. Have you got a rough idea of what you want to do?

| because Dartmouth is no better than it, regardless of what rankings say.
a small school in a rural New England environment was not what I wanted.

I cant find the application ratio, but the typical grade range is AAB-ABB. Seems Sussex are particuarly good at English and thus make high offers.
