I've noticed the AI in FM07 gets a bit turnover-happy too. I regularly get the end of transfer window update with one team mentioned for having signed 15 players - Luton did it just this morning.

I usually notice those kinds of updates when a team has either just been promoted to the a new league when previously had grey players, or a newly promoted Premiership team.

As for players, I am now coming to the end of season 1 in Portugal. I still have no scout as no-one will reply to my job offer. I have no new players to buy as every one I have looked at will not consider joining my club. I am intending to release a lot of dead wood at the end of the season.
I hope things change soon.

Since I follow Redbridge FC a bit...
In the 2005/6 season they used 100+ players. Some left after one game, some stayed a month, two months, half a season, but the majority left after a few weeks because they got a "better" wage at another club or whatever the reason was.
Since Redbridge uses amateurcontracts for the majority of their players the players can leave if they want, but RFC can quick the players out easy too. I believe RFC have some players on part-time deals.

Also, most contracts are only a year long at most so players come and go all the time.
