Default LLM Newbie

Hi folks,

Relatively new to WWSM2007 (in the US here), and have played off and on over the last 6 months. I came across the LLM forum and found that my play style sort of naturally fit pretty close to the LLM guidelines, having played a few seasons as Nuneaton, Harrogate, and other ECN and ECS clubs.

I'm actually pretty new to soccer in general, and not particularly familiar with competitive soccer, which makes it more difficult for me to use the "real world" as an example in guiding how I play.

To do a few adjustments to fit the LLM guidelines, I had a couple questions.

Firstly, I had previously used some of the player and staff searches to identify and sign, though I had always scouted players before ever signing any.

To fit into the LLM guidelines, I will fill any staff openings (tend to lose people when their contract is up)using the Job Center, which is pretty obvious, but I wasn't real clear on player transfers and whether any use of search filters is allowed.

Am I limited only to signing players that my scouts identify as part of the scouting assignments you give to them from the Scouting screen (eg. go scout England for a month), or am I allowed to identify players from team rosters, player searches, then have my scout get reports on the players and then sign them?

Is there some wiggle room in this, for example, where I can specifically scout players that are on teams I have faced, or that have been mentioned in the media, or does the purest really just *never* use the search screens and strictly only signs players from who their scouts happen to pick up when on assignments?

Basically just trying to get a feel for exactly who I'm able to scout and sign.

I think that's it as my playstyle had already pretty much fit in the LLM guidelines everywhere else.

Appreciate any comments. Thanks.

Woody

Players mentioned in the media are fair game for scouting, as are you next opponent's dangerman, players top of goal scoring charts etc.

The transfer/loan list is okay with minimal filters (probably positional only) as a source of players to scout, though some LLaMas use neither list.

That said, if you keep your scouts busy enough use of the lists should only need to be minimal.

Outside of scouting assignments you should only target players who have been brought to your attention "realistically"
So e.g. players offered are fair game after you've scouted them but searches are a no no.

Players that you watch in matches against your own team are fair game in my opinion. You've watched them play for 90 mins after all!

Good luck with LLM; it's a big challenge, but stick with it and the rewards are, well, not always great

I think anyone who plays well against you is fair game, but not just going through every player in every other team in the division.

Stupid Yanks...Don't you know it's football?

Welcome Woody. As was said, we simply strive for realism, as much as the game will allow. It's not realistic to know a player without scouting, but we all hear about players through press releases, etc.

Now let's upgrade this. How realistic would be for a club without scout to assign scouting of specific player to a coach or even ass man?

The game allows it, it is used in Slovenia in LL football as there are not many scouts in 3rd and lower tiers. How this applies elswhere?
