In the absence of Frank for FM08 I randomised and ended up at Thurrock. Part-time, nice badge and play in yellow.
Season 1 - 2007/08 Blue Square South
Small squad of average quality with a mid-table prediction (which I gladly accepted). Scout picked up one Seasoned Pro and three wasters. Lost first five then changed tactics. Complete fluke that paid off by going on a massive 15 game aquaplane, eh ... winning run. This allowed me to be really carp for the final two months.
Finished 4th and got Fisher play offs.
Drew 0-0 away.
Won on pens when their centre back inexplicably buried an own goal on the 94th minute.
Won 1-0 against Bath through Seasoned Pro for the most unlikely, unpredictable and scary promotion I have ever had.
Media Prediction: 15th
Final Position 4th Promoted via play-offs
Top Scorer: Seasoned Pro (15 goals)
Player of the Year: As above (Although I would give it to Fisher's centre back)
Season 2 - 2008/09 Blue Square Premier
God have mercy on us all. Lost 12 players and brought in 12 (bloody part-timers). Never stood a chance. Routinely destroyed home and away for first three months, we got a bit of form in late season so at least there was a challenge.
Inevitable relegation in April.
Media Prediction: 23rd
Final Position: 21st Relegated
Top Scorer: League 2 Loanee (8 goals)
My Player of the Year: Seasoned Pro
Close season the ungrateful board terminated my contract despite exceeding their expecations!
Got a job at Billericay.
Season 3 - 2009/10 Blue Square South
As they had just been promoted the Billericay squad consisted of five 'real' players, all on around £1000 a week! Shipped them out (for fees)and bought in 18 new players.
Avoided relegation comfortably and beat Thurrock away!
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha...
Media Prediction: 22nd
Final Positon: 13th
Top Goalscorer: New Goalkeeper
Player of the Year: Grandad Midfielder
