With Patch2, I am in my 5th season with Cambridge City and I am now 2nd in the BSP.
9th in BSN
3rd in BSN (promotion with Play-offs against Dorchester... was fairly lucky that day)
10th in BSP
7th in BSP
2nd in BSP (chasing Chesterfield. it's tight at the top where 4-5 clubs are fairly close)
I must say it seems much harder now. In the past I was racing from Low (L2, Conf or Conf South) to championship (the last step is usually very hard for me)
And I think the reason for my success lies also with the fact that Cambridge City is not in debt so it's easy to balance the books and I don't need to sell my stars.

It's fine if you want an exciting game with lots of goals, lots of hair tearing moments and lots of fun.
If you want a realistic football simulation however, I'm not so sure. Parts of the match engine are much improved, but so much of it is still head-shakingly laughable.

As I type, I lose 5-2 to the computer's only five shots on goal - three from perfectly weighted long range through balls, one from a keeper clearance playing a striker in and one from a direct FK from 30 yards. I dominated general play and squandered a hatful of excellent chances.
And I'm not surprised in the slightest as it will probably go my way the next game.

I'm not sure if I can say wether the game is harder or not. It just seems that way because every version you have to change all your tactics and start all over trying to see what everything does. Compared to FM 2007 where most of us were getting the hang of it it's really a big leap.
I say this because I remember last years whine's about how impossibly hard FM 2007 was...

I've been managing a promoted side from Blue Square South and I haven't had any problems yet...apart from a chairman who refuses to go look for parent clubs. So it is playable, though some have had issues prior to the beta patch. My understanding so far is that the beta patch has resolved some of those issues which they raised, but I never personally experienced.

My chairman refuses to find me another parent club; i'm Rynninge in Sweden btw, I already have one parent club, but he won't find me another.
Either i'm getting too greedy or he's just a lazy ****er.
