rumours circulating today that Donati has signed a 4yr deal with us, and its being reported in the corriere della sport.

No official confirmation yet though.

Interesting to see Birmingham have signed Garry O'Connor today.

Can't say I know much (or anything) about Donati, but the signing of foreign players I know nothing about always makes me a bit giddy with excitement

CELTS LAND DONATI
Exclusive by James Traynor and Anthony Haggerty

CELTIC last night captured AC Milan star Massimo Donati in a £3million deal.

As exclusively revealed by Record Sport, Donati will fly into Glasgow at the beginning of next week and sign for the SPL champions subject to passing a medical.

Celtic beat off stiff competition from Palermo, Sampdoria and Atalanta and Sampdoria to snap up the midfielder and sources in Italy claim the 26-year-old will sign a four-year contract.

Record Sport understands Celtic boss Gordon Strachan and chief executive Peter Lawwell who brokered the deal are delighted.

Strachan believes that Donati, who cost AC Milan £10m from Atlanta and has been loaned out to a string of Serie A clubs in recent campaigns, will be a key player in Celtic's Champions League bid.

The Hoops we re knocked out of last season's competition by Milan at the last 16 stage.

Donati becomes the fourth new signing of the summer by Strachan who has already recruited Scott Brown from Hibs in a £4.4m deal.

He also signed former Motherwell and Hibs strikers Scott McDonald and Chris Killen on Bosmans.

But the ambitious swoop for Donati will have caught the imagination of Celtic fans and the rest of Scottish football as the Parkhead side once again kept up their pledge to spend big.

Donati's arrival ensures that Strachan means business as Celtic go for their third straight SPL title in a row.

And Donati should be on board and be available in time for Celtic's pre-season trips to Switzerland and the USA next month.
still one "WOW" signing short, come on Lawwell bring in Appiah

have seen him play both for and against Milan.

There is absolutely no way he is worth £3.1 million.

That apart he would not improve our midfield - just like he did not improve midfields at Milan, Torino, Messina, Sampdoria, Parma or Atalanta.

Think about it for a moment - Milan kept the very average Christian Brocchi for the first team squad ( admittedly they do not play him too often ) and have loaned Donati for the last five seasons.

being a reserve at Milan doesnt necessarily mean that he's not good enough for first teams at other clubs
