€300,000 release clause. He's been quoted as saying Evander Sno is his best friend and Ray Clarke has been at both the Dutch games. Looks good. Get him signed

Since Celtic won the European Cup in 1966/67, surely the appropriate time for such a thread title was LAST season?

From the Herald online:

Quote:
Hearts last night defended a 30% rise in ticket prices that will be imposed on supporters of the Old Firm and Hibernian at Tynecastle next season.

Fans of Celtic, Rangers and Hibs will have to part with £33 to watch their team in the centre of the upper section of the Roseburn Stand, a jump of £8 from the last campaign.

Supporters in the other areas of the stand will be charged £27, an increase of £7 on last season, for Category A' matches. Opposing fans outside the Old Firm and Hibs will pay between £17 and £22 for Category B' games in the Roseburn Stand.

Hibs fans have reacted with disbelief to the price increase, claiming Vladimir Romanov, the Hearts owner, is merely lining his pockets. But the club have defended the price hike in light of the planned redevelopment of the Tynecastle main stand in the coming campaign.

"We reviewed the pricing of match-day tickets at some length prior to any increases," said a Hearts spokesman.

"It's really all about supply and demand and we have to be commercially aware. Demand for tickets for Hearts versus Hibs at Tynecastle outstrips supply."

Hibs travel to Tynecastle on the opening day of the season and Dave Kowalski, a spokesman for fans website Hibs.net, said yesterday: "Thirty-three pounds is an outrageous price. I've not heard about an organised Hibs boycott, but if there was one, Hearts would deserve to lose money."
Please, boycott Tynecastle next season. It's an absolute scandal that Rangers, Celtic and Hibs fans will be forced to contribute to the redevelopment of Tynecastle.

£33 is pretty lame considering it's £25 and £27 iirc for the hearts fans at CP.

no chance i'd pay that for an SPL game.

Celtic target nears decision
By Andrew Scurr - Created on 19 Jun 2007

Celtic target Gennaro Delvecchio is expected to decide where his future lies in the coming days.

The Sampdoria midfielder has been linked with a £3million move to the SPL champions, but Palermo and Napoli are also known admirers.

Delvecchio is currently considering all offers on the table and should come to a decision within the next 48 hours.

"Gennaro is excited by the idea of playing for Celtic, but he's also well aware of Palermo's interest," Sampdoria spokesman Matteo Gamba told the Scottish Sun.

"Napoli are watching the situation too.

"Gennaro is speaking to the club and we should know within the next few days what will happen."

Meanwhile, Celtic goalkeeper Artur Boruc (pictured) has hinted he could be tempted by a move away from Parkhead.

The Poland international is rumoured to be attracting the attention of Premiership clubs, as well as European champions Milan.

And Boruc admits it would be hard to turn down the opportunity of a switch to a "better club".

"I can't complain about anything. But if there is a chance to play at a better club, why not?" Boruc told a Polish newspaper.

"All the time I'm doing everything I can to become a better goalkeeper. I'm trying to improve my skills."

Donati keen on Celtic move
By Mark Buckingham - Created on 18 Jun 2007

Milan winger Massimo Donati is 'very interested' in joining Celtic and is due to hold talks with the SPL champions this week.

Donati is looking to leave the UEFA Champions League winners over the summer after struggling to make an impact in Carlo Ancelotti's plans.

He has been linked with a £3million switch to Celtic and Donati's agent Andrea D'Amico confirmed the player is keen on a move to Parkhead.

"I can confirm Massimo and I are planning to hold a meeting with Celtic representatives in the middle of the week," D'Amico told the Daily Record.

"We do not know yet where those discussions will take place, but we are both prepared to fly to London or Scotland.

"Massimo is very interested in the Celtic proposal and he is seriously considering that option and he wants to hear what they have to say."

Atalanta, with whom he spent last season, Palermo, Sampdoria and Torino are all reportedly hoping to keep Donati in Serie A, but D'Amico admits the offer of Champions League football with Celtic is tempting.

He added: "The prospect of Champions League football is exciting for any player.

"Massimo is no different as he wants to play at the highest levels in the game."

Race on for Rigters
By Peter ORourke - Created on 19 Jun 2007

Skysports.com understands Newcastle and Celtic are battling it out for Dutch starlet Maceo Rigters.

Rigters has caught the eye of a number of clubs during Holland's run to the semi-finals of the European Under 21 Championship.

The 23-year-old has scored two goals so far in the tournament and he has been one of Holland's top performers.

Rigters' performances have impressed scouts from Newcastle and Celtic, who have been taking in Holland's games.

The talented striker is thought to be considering his future at NAC Breda after growing increasingly frustrated at his role at the club.

The news has alerted Celtic and Newcastle, who are set to keep tabs on the player for the rest of the European Championship.

Rigters' agent Ton Smit confirmed Celtic and Newcastle were chasing the striker and that a decision on his future could be made after the tournament.

"There has been a lot of interest in Maceo," Smit told skysports.com.

"Celtic are seriously interested and Newcastle are also looking at him.

"We have had no official offers for him, but I believe both clubs will watch him play against England [tomorrow].

"Maceo would be keen on a move to Britain and play at a higher level."

Rigters would be an absolute snip, get him signed.

Donati, i've seen a few times, and is a cracking wee player. Delvecchio i don't much about in all honesty, but from what i hear he's tall and physical, with a little bit of flair. He's been in 4 of the last 5 italy squads, so he can't be too bad.

Delvecchio Goal 1

Delvecchio Goal 2

Headbutt

Few clips I could find on Delvecchio, couple of decent goals and an impressive subtle attack on Materazzi. Worth the £3m for the goal celebrations alone though .
