Quick question.. I've never had a PC that was modern enough to "upgrade" (required a new pc every time I had the cash to do so).. I'm thinking of upgrading from my 4200+ AMD to a 6000+ AMD (same socket), would I just be able to swap out the CPU and restart and it would go normally?
Would I have to format?
If I had to format I'd probably not do it, as I just formatted a month or so ago and don't want to go through it again.
shouldnt have to format. Repair install at worst. Nothing at best. One of the harder upgrades ive found. You'll need some thermal grease and alcohol to make sure the new cpu has a good even contact with the heatsink.

A Drive can be set to Master, Slave or Cable Select.
You change this setting by changing the position of a jumper block on the drive near to where the HDD cable\power connects. The diagram for the jumper settings is usually on the top front sticker or above the pins that you put the jumper on.
