| Only if you have "Smart Fan Control" enabled in the BIOS I beleive. Or something like that. Don't hold me to that either.

It's formatting the disk. I had a play about with the LiveCD environment, I like it and I'm going for it.
Now have to start worrying about :
*Media Center equivalent (with the ability to use my Freeview box through the remote receiver thing as per the standard Windows set up)
*hp psc 2175 drivers, are they available?
*Microsoft LifeCam webcam drivers, are they available?
*Ability to use my Netgear WG311T?
As you can see, this was thought out :p

Just got a new PC with Vista Home Premium. I have to say, i don't know what everyone is complaining about. So far no bugs at all that are noticeable and every game i have tried to install has worked fine. Also everything else has installed fine as well (printer, broadband etc.)
If you're getting a new pc then imo you should definitely get it

Rep Power: 0 | Defragmenting Hard Drives
I tend not to do this overly often really but everyone keeps telling me it has such a big effect so some questions:
1) How often should I be ideally doing it?
2) How long will it take on an average computer, 1 gig of ram and I don't know the processor speed but it's a few years old. ~105gb of data on the drive.
3) My Mum keeps going on and on about not leaving the computer on overnight because it gets hacked 50 times on average. What are the actual risks because defragging overnight would be the best thing for me to do.
4) I should have as few programmes running as possible to stop the data getting changed while it's being sorted right? Can you defrag in safe mode and is it recommended?

1) I do it monthly
2) Depends how often you do it. Mine takes 40 mins and i do it monthly
3) It doesnt get hacked 50 times, its just attempts which your firewall is blocking. Its fine to leave it on
4) Probs best not to be doing anything else while defraging. You can, but would sort of defeat the purpose

So I'll defrag it overnight in safe mode with ZoneAlarm running. Quote:
