Didn't want to start a new 'should I buy this laptop' thread, so I hope this is the right place for this.
I'm getting a laptop, and I want something pretty high powered, with a reasonable shelf life. Don't want a crazy big 17" screen, as I will be moving it around every now and again.
The one I have settled on is the ASUS V1S, and while it's obviously got a pretty decent spec, the question I have is whether there is a better option with similar hardware? Specifications |

Like Andrew Jolly, I'm looking for a new laptop for when I go to university and being computer illiterate I was hoping that someone could offer some advice please. I'm looking to spend up to a maximum of around £500 - 600. I'd use it for: games (only FM and Pro Evo), word documents, storing music and obviously internet access. I've had a look on several websites and have found this one on Dell:
Inspiron 1501 £609.31 (Including Microsoft Office 2007 Home and Student)
BASE AMD® Athlon™ 64 X2 Mobile Technology TK53
OPERATING SYSTEM Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium - English
LCD 15.4" Wide Screen WXGA (1280 x 800) Display
MEMORY 2048MB 533MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [2x1024]
HARD DRIVE 120GB (5400rpm) SATA Hard Drive
GRAPHICS CARD 256MB ATI ® Radeon® Xpress 1150 HyperMemory™
OPTICAL DRIVE Fixed Internal 8X DVD+/-RW Drive including Software
WIRELESS CONNECTIVITY Dell™ Wireless 1390 802.11b/g Mini-PCI Card (for AMD Processors)
Apologies for the capitals as I just copied and pasted it. The problem is that most of that is Greek to me, so would that allow me to do all that I want or could I get a fairer price for something else/ with less? Would be grateful for any comments. Thanks.

As I said earlier in the thread I'm thinking of getting a new laptop, and I was keen on the Sony fz11m, but now I have found a cheaper alternative in this Toshiba
Can someone tell me if this is a good and considering the cheapest I will be able to get it from a store (preferred option) is £799 is it good value for money?
I will be using it for FM, Pro Evo, Tiger Woods and various other games, for coursework, for video/photo editing, listening to music, watching movie's and the usual such as Internet, e-mail etc.

My sister has emailed me about her PC, the clock isnt keeping the right time - from my limited knowledge that means the battery on the motherboard is not working correctly.
Is just a case of see what kind of battery it is, buy a new one and replace?

Yes, that's right. She could try correcting the time first, see if it loses track of the time again though.

I posted a thread last week about getting a new pc. Basically I can't decide what I want. I have about £500 to spend, could stretch more if needed.
I want it to last me a couple of years and be able to play PES, FM, GTA etc. Not really into fps, so i don't think i will need that big a spec but i want pes to look good.
Can anyone try and find me a good one. Only need the base mind.
Have specced up a few on Mesh and PcSpecialist but really don't know what will suit my requirements!
Thankssssss
