| Any other suggestion, cutter? Users of FileFront mostly upload games, etc. I want something more serious. Like eSnips. So that I can separate my private documents.

If I can't access an external HDD, and I've had it less than 12 months (it just freezes when I try to get into it), how can I delete the data on it if I take it back under warranty?
| dont think there is a way to do it without voiding the warranty. Im sure they're not interested in your porn anyway </BLOCKQUOTE>
There's a way you can do it with Linux and a few other bits and bobs but it's really complicated to do, I tried it once and only managed to recover what was on it, I couldn't format, I know when my Seagate blew I just emailed them the problem and they let me ram a screw through the middle off it. </BLOCKQUOTE>
The XDD is under warranty though, so I should get my money back, I just want to delete all the data that is on there - bank details and the like.

Oh, and my PC has started all of a sudden to spend a lot of time on the start up screen - where it shows all the information, eg, how many hard drives etc. It stays like that for about a minute. Any ideas?

A question about CPU's. Say I have a Pentium IV that has a clock speed of 2.8 ghz. Is it logical to assume that an intel core 2 Quad, that has a clock speed of 2.4ghz, would significantly outperform the P4? I would like to know how it's better despite having a lower clock speed. There used to be a time when I thought clock speed was everything, but there's other things such as L2 Cache, front side bus etc.

Dual-core and Quad-core machines work much faster than P4s, even when they have a slower clock speed.

I was browsing the PC World site, as I need a laptop, and this one caught my eye. It looks like the spec is good, but I don't know too much about computers so I was wondering if anyone in the know could give an opinion about this model?
I will be using it for coursework, playing FM (and other games), moving music between computer/phone, playing music, browsing the net and playing DVD's.
Cheers |
