I'm considering getting one of these on Thursday.
Any thoughts as to whether it's going to represent good value for money? (it'll probably only get light/medium usage).

| I think it does. £460 for a dual-core processor, 2 Gb RAM, and 120 Gb harddisk is considered cheap at least in the Netherlands. But you have to consider the brand since I don't know if Medion has a good reputation.

Decent price, decent spec. Don't know much about the manufacturer though

Anyone have a 20'' widescreen monitor, I just wondered if widescreen is any good, I asked a while ago but to be honest I still can't decide if it's worth upgrading or sticking to a standard 19''

| Well, my college says that I need 15.4" widescreen for my notebook even if I don't know what widescreen means. I guess it's important. By the way, what's the difference affected by just 1" for goodness sake?

| I know it's only 1'' extra but my current monitor is old, it's 16ms which is slow, only vga I wanted something with dvi and that supports HD like bluray when it comes a bit cheaper, it seems a waste having an expensive graphics card and an old monitor that wont perform well with an xbox and future games.

Then, buy a new monitor. Widescreen. If I look for some notebooks, everything is widescreen. I think it's the same with desktops.

My g/f wants a Laptop for her Birthday in a few weeks because shes going back to Uni, I wanted to get her something half decent but not spend a great deal
Anyway got in Saturday night drunk, I really shouldn't drink wine, and I ended up ordering her this, its refurbished, but half decent and cheap
Has the wine made me do something stupid or does that look alright, my brothers old work used to buy refurbished stuff all the time

| Yeah, a very good price for such a laptop. A dual-core processor, 1 Gb RAM, and 80 Gb hard disk. Eventhough I'm not so sure Advent has a good reputation.

Yeah even in my drunken state it seems I can still pick out some good specs, its just obviously the refurbished part that concerns me, though at least theres a 1 year warranty on it
