would you pay an extra £100 (well more like £80) for:
* 2gigs of RAM instead of 1gig
* Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 1.6GHZ over Intel Core Duo T2350 1.86GHz

Can anyone recommend me a decent computer for max £500. It would need Windows Vista, intel duocore processor and a decent graphics card. Monitor and Hard drive dont have to be anything special.

I have an annoying problem with my pc speakers. Basically they make this constant ticking noise since the other night and it doesn't matter if my pc is on or shutdown.
Is there anything I can do to stop the noise or do I need new speakers? If so can anyone recommend me a decent set of speakers.

| Same thing happened to me for a while...I think it might have been my router as I moved it away from speakers and the noise disapeared.

I reckon the noise is interference. Try moving stuff around, and keep your mobile phone/wireless keyboard and such like away from them too.

| I'd say Norton, which has all these on it. Others on here may say no to Norton, basically due to it's size, but it's not a problem for me. Norton Internet Security 2007, or Norton 360 will do it all. Maybe check out PCWorld to see if they have any offers.

| I probably would, but then again, I'd haggle and try to bring them down in price some more.

| If you don't need a monitor, you can spec up a good Dell desktop for under £500. With a monitor, you may have t compromise

| You won't get decent free antivirus software. You can get some okay-ish free AV software.
Free firewall software is rubbish.
AVG Antispyware, Lavasoft Adaware, Spybot search and destroy - all good anti-spyware. Google them and you will find them easy enough
