Queens Regs, you mean.
Still not sure why it should mean you earn a third what any other skilled worker doing a dangerous, unpleasant job does - and a fifth what one who's liable to be sent to unpleasant places on such a job does. And the job is the most dangerous and unpleasant there is, by a country mile.
Then if you come right unstuck, you're treated less than half as well as a 9 to 5 typist with a sore thumb.
With every other dangerous and unpleasant industry, we've decided that the work is actually SO dangerous and unpleasant that our own citizens cannot possibly be compensated for it in today's society, so we make wogs do it for us somewhere else and whine that our own working class are unemployed chavs with no sense of purpose and no dignity.
Really is odd how lefties think of soldiers, isn't it?

So why do the job if it's so unpleasant underpaid and you have to agree to the Queen's Regs? You all seem to keen then whinge like big girls once it turns out to be exactly as expected.

| Yeah, there were fantastic prospects for school leavers in Southampton in 1986, just as Vospers shut and the construction industry jacked it, and Maggie stopped dole for the under 18s. I sold pies for a bit from the back of a van on St Mary's market, but I couldn't really see a career forming there.
Many of my cohorts were slung out of childrens homes at 16, only for their dole to be stopped. WTF were they supposed to do? The good/lucky ones managed to join the infantry. The rest of the poor bastards ended up in the AAC.
As for those who join today, it may surprise you to know that the recruiting office rather plays down the bummers and people sort of expect that in modern Britain working for the government means decent treatment. Ah, the blissful ignorance of youth.
