It's you as started on semantics. A xenophobe will support racial profiling in the hope it may lead to profiling of everyone who looks or acts different to him. But that's not the reason most people would support profiling. That's why the list I gave you gave several motivations and reasons, and of course there is some cross over.

Deportation for foreign born criminals without dependents I'd have no issues with. Strip-searching is not necessary in most cases, but where it is why not? During the war on drugs I looked like a hippy and got strip searched. During the war on hooliganism I looked like a skin and got strip searched. Don't recall whinging about it in church, much.

Nope xenophobia can be against a particular subset of the population as if you want to be a pedantic **** everyone looks different to someone. As xenophobia can be fear of a subset of the population then targeting people of middle eastern appearance is xenophobia. Irrespective of whether you think you have statistical proof to back your xenophobia up, it's still xenophobia.

The only time it would be for security would be if the response was proportional to either the threat posed to the individual which is none, or the threat posed by the population as a whole which would need random checking. Anything else is xenophobia.
