You say he was part of a terrorist organisation and likely committed various acts of terrorist violence.
I reply that he has been acquitted of any charges of that nature when serving trial in a court of law.
Responding to that with "well, he probably supported the violence" is hardly a great response. In fact it's one of the most infantile stock responses a person could ever make.

We had a programme exposing extremist hatred being taught in mosques. We then had the Saudis and police trying to shut down said kind of programme on grounds of islamophobia. So I'm in no mood for yet another Guardian article on how it's only because of islamophobes that muslims are such extremists. Especially one written by a former extremist of the same ilk, who's noted for his sympathy towards islamist terrorists and who's also only being printed because he's married to a Guardian editor.
