| No it's not. It steps in when democracy's in danger, then steps back again.
The Turkish army go around bombing buses full of tourists?

terrorism is just when you don't fight fair according to the definition of the enemy. Conveniently the enemy tend to change the definition once they invent weapons good enough so they don't need to or become strong enough they don't need to.

Not labelled as terrorists because of all the bombings, kidnappings and assasinations then?
| Terrorism has become (or will become) a bit of a joke if the Kurds are considered terrorists </BLOCKQUOTE>
The PKK has been on the terrorist list for years
bombing civilian targets and planting mines are a quick way to get on the list </BLOCKQUOTE>
So the American Army is a terrorist organisation then? And the Israeli? And many of the Western Armies? </BLOCKQUOTE>
Quite plausibly, yes. About the only difference is those armies tend to do their best to avoid targeting civilians - while the PKK really don't give a ****
btw Bert, about our mini-argument before the other thread got closed yesterday http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17149369/ |

Well there are but it's never as clear cut as you think. War and language too ambiguous for such neat definitions anyway.

Your words, not mine
Definition is really in the eye of the definer though.
If Blackwater was a Russian or Iranian group and was caught funneling arms to Al-Qaeda and shooting quite recklessly, whether they killed insurgents or civilians, the way we [the US] would talk about them is entirely different than how we do talk about them.

How about "groups that make attacks on unarmed targets"?
