So you don't agree that if a people make a majority in an area of a country, they should have the right of self-determination? Why should the Kurds be ruled by Turks, when they want to rule themselves?
| I profoundly disagree with that idea.
They can do it the hard way like we did, or they can suck it up and deal with it.
That is unless you'd see no problem if regions or cities in England decided to up and declare themselves autonomous for whatever reason. </BLOCKQUOTE>
To qualify for self-determination, you need to be a region that can be self-sufficient, ie. not Kosovo, and to show that your culture is at least fairly different to the country you want to succeed from.
I think the Kurds qualify, and they have been fighting for it, the American Government has labelled them terrorists as they want to keep the Turks friendly, and the Turks have beaten down the Kurds horribly for uprising. </BLOCKQUOTE>
Liverpool?
What about if all the muslims in England moved to a particular area, became the significant majority in the area, and decided they wanted the right of self-determination?

Eh? The Kurds aren't. Who has designated the Kurds as a terrorist organisation?

The PKK has been on the terrorist list for years
bombing civilian targets and planting mines are a quick way to get on the list

And the Turkish army don't, on a larger scale?
If the Americans want to make the Iranian Revolutionary Guard a terrorist organisation, than the Turkish army should be one too.
| Why? </BLOCKQUOTE>
They have done the same or worse to the Kurds compared to what the Kurds have done to them, and the Turkish army is anti-democratic. Quote:

| Obviously you need to show that the grouping that want self-determination has been native to the area for some centuries.
And I think most English would be happy for Liverpool to succeed.
