Whereas I found the Shins album to be a massive heart-breaker, the departure from their signature tunes left me bemused, they actually had filler, resorting to random lyrics-wankery to make up for shortcomings in production, either too obtuse or the slitting of wrists sort of "emo". So disappointing.

Sleeping Lessons is still an awesome opener though, all that being said.

and no, shins/of montreal were released on the 23rd, it should actually be released there, as we're generally awful for CD releases over here and yet Shins big enough to warrant shelf-space on HMV in between Shakira and Rob Stewart, so don't see any reason why there should be a later release date in the UK

I hear The Celibate Life and then realize that was the apex of their music, genuinely blase about the new album

Dream theater did a thing yesterday inviting people in to do some "chanting" for their new album.

No further details (such as name) have been confirmed, excpet for one of the tracks is a good old fashioned 25 minute epic.
