Ok, here's the deal, just won the league with spurs in my 3rd season. all my starting 11 had 4 stars in the coach report and some had 5.

I am just going through some practice games now for the new season and noticed that all my players have lost at least one star, some two.

How can they lose so much in the space of a month or two??

I haven't changed my assistant manager. Before he was saying we have a strong squad and now, he is saying we need to strengthen every areas!!!

Possibly, your AssMan's JCA attribute changed. Alternately (and more likely), since stars are based on your team's "expected standard," that expected standard has increased.

I don't know about the stars going down, but as for the need to strengthen, maybe your board expectaion has risen after your league win?

-before- he was saying that your players had 4 or 5 stars for the league position or overall performance that you were aiming at.

-after- he's showing you that your players no longer match the clubs reputation and competitional targets and that you seriously need to improve your squad if you intend to reach the new heights of success demanded by your board and your clubs reputation.

The star rating is a relative score, meaning if your overall squad quality has improved, someone who was a 5-star player at the outset is now a 4-star player. It doesn't mean his absolute skill/ability has changed.

For me the entire England squad has 4 stars max. And these are some of the best players in the world.

They are being measured against the expectations for your club - you're in the Chsmpions League noe for example.

Also over the summer months, their abilities will dip slightly until they have resumed training for a while.

But the increase in expectation is the most likely explanation, i certainly notice it if i get promoted, my players are no longer considered as good as they were the season before.

I recently changed assistant managers and all of my players' star ratings changed. Suddenly someone who my last assistant thought was awful is excellent and vice versa.

Moral of the story: Don't trust your assistant!
