Little known fact - I think our first every league game as Newcastle United, was a 2-2 draw with Woolwich Arsenal back in 1892.

Anyway - can't see anything other than an Arsenal win here. We might have had an improved performance at Blackburn on Saturday, but we still lost and the gunners will still have too much for us. I suspect they won't even have to get out of 2nd gear. I'm gonna go for 2-0 to Arsenal, with us providing lots of huff and puff but not creating any real chances due to a lack of width (again)

Cant look past Arsenal but i'd hope Newcastle will not do anything silly and sack Allardyce, i dont see any good coming from that. Nice run of games afterwards, at least give him that. Mid table anyway, not so bad. He does seem to be chopping and changing alot but do you really want Shearer in his place ?

I have a feeling Senderos may play in which case I can't see anything past a Newcastle romp.

Speaking about this game, Sam Allardyce said:

"I could do with all the players fit before I pit my wits against him again. We've got a game we didn't want at this time but we've got to face up to it.

"It's two big home games on the trot (Birmingham follow on Saturday) and we've got to make sure we get something out of them.

"If we show a committed performance, like we did here, there won't be any problem with the fans.

"But what you can't do is let outside influences affect your belief."

Put your records on: Wednesday sees the return of popular former match DJ Rob Byron to SJP gramophone handle-winding duties for one night only.

Expect top tunes, not ring tones on the wheels of steel - this is a Cheeky Girls-free zone.

NUFC: To follow....defensive woes continue, with Faye damaging a calf on Saturday, Cacapa not yet 100% with his hamstring injury and Taylor awaiting a specialist's OK before returning after his back knack.

Also, substitute Carr had to come off at Ewood with hamstring problems. Ramage is out long-term, Duff back in training but yet to feature for the reserves and Owen still sidelined.

Looks as though we might struggle to play a back 4 on Wednesday

Enrique Rozehnal Beye Geremi seems the obvious choice but who knows.
