This is a problem with ratings oddly enough. In real life if a player missed from 6 yards twice and did nothing else of value all game they'd get a 2 or 3, the game is stupid so gives a 5 for doing this, the game thinks 5 is O.K, the user KNOWS the performance is not acceptable.

I've had a defender keep missing interception chances, heading the ball to (opposition) strikers and pass the ball into the back of his own net, hes made less than half his tackles stick and is constantly beaten in the air, his rating is a 5. in real life he'd get a 1 and a fine and be dropped from the team, if I do this he gets ****y.

Right, except Derby players aren't paid £100,000 a week to win the premiership are they? They are supposed to be avoiding relegation by trying to scrape results against superior teams.

If I were paying Tevez 60,000k a week salary and he were playing crap, I'd sure as hell be ****ed off, and I'd let it be known.

Half of you would be awful at man management judging by these comments. You'd let your players run riot just to avoid upsetting them their fragile ego's.

Fining a player just because he made a mistake though is not good man management.

Anyone can make a mistake, if football was that damn easy we'd all be Man U's number 9 after all.

Fining a player in FM for poor performance is ultimatly only ever going to bite you on the ass though. I have seen no discernable improvement from when I have fined someone to when I simply issue a press statement saying he needs to improve. And you run the risk if you fine them continually of having a player backlash against you, at which point you may aswell pack your bags....and the Board could even take offense at it.

Every player has an off day, grin and bear it - if it continues moan to the press....if it continues after that he obviously isnt upto the required standard, sell him.
