The 2007/08 Calcio Italiano Thread (brought to you by dodgy dealings and a James Richardson-style ice cream sundae)
Seeing as everyone else has one, we may as well have one too.
First of all, the 20 teams for 2007/08:
Atalanta
Cagliari
Catania
Empoli (UEFA Cup next season)
Fiorentina (UEFA Cup next season)
Genoa (Promoted from Serie B)
Internazionale (Reigning champions; UCL next season)
Juventus (Promoted from Serie B as champions)
Lazio (UCL next season)
Livorno
Milan (UCL holders)
Napoli (Promoted from Serie B)
Palermo (UEFA Cup next season)
Parma
Reggina
Roma (UCL next season)
Sampdoria
Siena
Torino
Udinese
A few pointers to get the ball rolling:
1. Fixtures will be out some point in early August, with the season starting later in the month;
2. Channel 5 have rights to one live match and highlights for this coming season, although they are yet to reveal if they will take up the live matches. No word on who will host their shows as of yet, although we all want James Richardson, of course.
3. There is already a whiff of a scandal brewing, this time involving Inter, Milan, Sampdoria and Reggina. They are accused of inflating player values, which in turn enabled their financial books to look better. This is an important thing in Italian football as, if a club is deemed to be in poor times financially, they are booted out of Serie A. This has happened to teams in the past, whilst others have been threatened with such an order.
Interestingly, it relates to the 2005/06 season and has only just been revealed. If found guilty (and it is unclear where these clubs stand, although I suspect Reggina would be worse off), they may face fines, points deductions, relegation and Inter could even be stripped of that Scudetto. Which would, in turn, give it to Roma.
Nothing much changes in Italy.

Not yet. I am willing to give Juve the benefit of the doubt right now and switch the focus to other probable dodginess (see above).

Roma signed Juan so I guess that means Chivu to Inter will be more than likely now.
