How will Inter cope when CL rules kick in about a certain amount of player needing to be home-grown and another certain amount to have come from the youth academy?

Not a bad year for Italy, in the past year, Italy won the World Cup, Milan won the Champions League, Cannavaro was voted player of the year with Buffon as goalkeeper of the year...the only downside is having Inter winning the scudetto which is an embarrasement as they cant even field more than 2 italian players, I dont see how any of Inter fans can be attached to anyone in that club.
| I think he made some good points.

Hmmm, he did make some good points. Italy did win the WC, Milan did win the UCL, Cannavaro was voted player of the year, etc...All very good - and very true - points. Despite the Calcipoli scandal, Italy did very well over the past twelve months.
Inter winning the scudetto a downside? Why? Why is this a good point? I don't get what you mean. And I think we all know that minor threat is j4l in another life (mods may want to check this; I am happy to be corrected on this).
Inter fans in Italy generally tend to be Italian (duh...), so I am sure they would have rejoiced in Italy winning the WC, just as much as Inter winning the scudetto. I am certain that Arsenal fans, with their dearth of English players, would do the same in England won the WC. As would Chelsea fans, etc.
And how can Inter fans be attached to anyone at the club? I am assuming he means how can Inter fans lay claim to being fans.supporters of Inter players as most of them are Italian? Am I right or am I wrong? I don't know, it makes little sense. Anyway, Inter fans can be attached to any player, just as Arsenal fans were attached to Henry, Barcelona to Ronaldinho. Nationality doesn't come into it at club level - only with jealous fans does it. Likewise at international level - the national team counts first and foremost. Whether Inter don't produce the bulk of Italian team or not is really not a point worth making based on j4l's point above.
It is common knowledge in the Italian game that Inter are renowned for their 'internationalism'. Over the years though, they have produced more than their fair share of World Cup winners for Italy, etc.

| If and when this rule does kick in, I think they will struggle for 2-3 years in Europe. I think the management realise that they have to start promoting home-grown talent a lot better than they have done in recent years. The feeling is (and I think it is pretty much confirmed) that if there has been a problem, a title to chase, etc, money has been thrown at it. This has led to a lot of decent talent in the primavera sides not coming through.
Dual nationality is a method that will help Inter as well, I suppose, as a number of their South Americans (indeed, a number of South Americans playing in Italy) have Italian passports too.

Apparently the rules are ridiculous anyway - someone did a little research on it and apparently Makalele counts as homegrown for Chelsea ffs
Anyway, wasn't the point of Inter (as seen by the name), the fact they would have international players?

We've sold Semioli to Fiorentina for a reported £5 million. Awesome deal for us if its true. \o/
Shame we've lost half our squad though. /o\ Still, Obinna hasn't gone anywhere yet as far as i know, but it must only be a matter of time.

Italians do tend to favour Italian players, Del Piero for Juve, Maldini for Milan, Totti for Roma etc so there is a truth in that inside Italy.

Hmmm, Sheva at Milan, the GreNoLi Swedes at Milan, John Charles at Juve. Nationality doesn't come into it; a great service towards your club does. So there is nothing different in Italy to the rest of the footballing world.

The Gialloblu have been trying to bring back to Italy the young Manchester United forward fo the past weeks without too much luck.
Parma have been quite active in the transfer market during this summer phase and the President of the Gialloblu, Tommaso Ghirardi, declared himself satisfied with the purchases made so far by the club.
"We're careful about the movements of the market, but the situation of our squad pleases us.
"Obviously, if there will still be possibilities to act in the transfer market, we shall do so."
In particular, the last purchase could be Giuseppe Rossi, for whom Parma have been negotiating with Manchester United for the past weeks.
"We have just met this morning at Folgaria the agents of Giuseppe Rossi.
"We made a recap of the situation, but we know that we have to attend the resturn of Manchester United from the Asian tour before knowing something more about Giuseppe."

Giuseppe Rossi’s agent has given Napoli fans something to get excited about by revealing that his coveted client would relish a move to the Stadio San Paolo.
The 20-year-old Azzurrini star is considered one of the most promising young Italian talents and is now also one of the most sought after - especially after Sir Alex Ferguson admitted that the extent of their summer transfer activity means that they might no longer be able to accommodate him at Old Trafford despite his tremendous striking ability.
Milan and Parma have been most heavily linked in recent weeks, but now Diego Maradona’s old side have also emerged as contenders for his signature.
“Giuseppe would be more than happy to play for Napoli,” Federico Pastorello told Radio Marte.
“He cares more about the future and the atmosphere surrounding the team than about money. In any case, he is worth around 10 million euros.”
“I spoke to Napoli general manager Marino a few days ago, but Napoli have never asked me about the player,” he added.
“I don’t know if they talked to Manchester United about him. After what Ferguson said, Rossi will probably leave Manchester and many clubs, both English and Italian, are interested in him.”
| Rossi highly rated, will be interested to see which club he chooses if they both do have offers.

Empoli employ Juventus duo
UEFA Cup hopefuls Empoli FC have reached an agreement to bring defender Felice Piccolo and midfielder Claudio Marchisio to the club from promoted Juventus.
Loan spells
Piccolo, who turns 24 next month, has been allowed to join Empoli in a deal which will see Juventus retain a share of his registration. He played seven games as the Turin side won promotion last season, having also spent time on loan for AS Lucchese, Como Calcio, Reggina Calcio and S.S. Lazio since joining Juventus in 2001. Meanwhile, 21-year-old Marchisio will join the Tuscan side on a one-year-loan. A graduate of the Juventus youth system, the Italian Under-21 international played 25 league matches last season and is considered an exciting prospect. Empoli have already brought in two other Juventus youngsters, striker Rej Volpato and attacking midfielder Sebastian Giovinco. They finished seventh in Serie A to qualify for the first round of the UEFA Cup.

Pazzini has faith in Fiorentina
ACF Fiorentina have secured the long-term services of one of Italy's brightest talents with the news that Giampaolo Pazzini is to stay until 2011.
Improved terms
The Under-21 striker, who turns 23 next month and has attracted interest from abroad, has agreed improved terms which will see two years added to his contract. A UEFA Under-19 European Championship winner in 2003, Atalanta BC product Pazzini has been in Florence since January 2005 - scoring 15 goals in 65 league games. Meanwhile, the UEFA Cup entrants have failed to agree a new contract with 29-year-old defender Tomáš Ujfaluši, with only a year to run on the Czech international's deal. The Viola also signed veteran striker Christian Vieri last week to replace the departed Luca Toni.

Tristán to fill Lucarelli void
AS Livorno Calcio have found a replacement for hometown hero Cristiano Lucarelli, signing the former Spain striker Diego Tristán on a free transfer.
Spain record
With Lucarelli having departed for FC Shakhtar Donetsk in an €8m deal after scoring 94 goals in 146 league matches for Livorno, the Amaranto have turned to another 31-year-old who knows all about representing a club with distinction. Tristán struck 78 goals in 177 games over six seaons at RC Deportivo La Coruña before joining his former club RCD Mallorca last term. Tristán won 15 caps for Spain, scoring four international goals.
| Quite good player, but I doubt that he can replace Lucarelli
