I haven't installed any patches on FM08 yet. Basically I hate this game so far, its the worst one in the series in my opinion.
The main problem is that if I concede a goal first I lose. I have looked back across my season and I have managed to pull a goal back in this dsituation about twice. In a whole season!
The oposition always score an early goal. I have wasted the last 2 hours, have quit and am deciding whether to bother with it anymore, but after reading this, will the patches make any difference? Will any of the many things I detest about FM08 change?
Give the patch a go mate, it's a vast improvement. Still a few issue's, but worth trying

- new accounts with anonymous e-mail leads to more trolling, and may also be leading to posting-under-alias by the troublemakers. How many of the people complaining heavily are "hardcore" players who have held accounts here a long time, and how many are accounts inked in October and November?
- The prevalence of the forums leads to a feeling that there are more bugs than there are, or that they are more severe than they are, because you see other people's negative experiences. For example, without SiN8 posting it, I'd never have known about the $0 'too good to be turned down' bug - it certainly hasn't happened to me.
- lack of in-character feedback from the assistant, etc, leads to people who can't tell where they're going wrong. If they can't tell of their own accord, they can't fix it, so they continue to struggle .. and when the couple of things they try changing don't fix it, the natural tendency is to blame an outside influence. In this case, "Its a bug!", or "The game is biased against me!"
- Different parts of the audience have different tolerances for different amounts of difficulty. By that, I mean, a game in which I can just plug in players, whip up a tactic, and win strikes me as "too easy" .. but a game that is "just right" for me may come out "too hard" for the more casual player. And some of the die-hards in LLM would want an even more challenging game than I would. So you wind up with things that "work" for one group but get complained about by another.

May as well post this here as it seems apt. I can honestly say, hand on heart I haven't had a problem with this game since release. I've downloaded and installed the patch, and apart from a few GUI bugs I had noticed, for me i'm not really seeing much difference. It was a great game when it was released and its a great game now, i'm still on the same save I was on release day and having a great time.
I'm not saying the 'closing down bug' for example, didn't exist, but for me it was a shrug your shoulders and live with it for a bit bug. Not a game breaker.
I agree with a lot of what Amaroq said about the prevelance of 'bug' posts though.

Agree with what's been posted here, but I gotta say...
The Spanish registration bug.
I haven't heard anyone complain about France yet, too, but I imagine it would exist there, as well.
Basically, if a team has a Reserve side that plays in a loaded league (French CFA, for example), any players on those teams who have been registered for Euro competitions become unregistered at the Janruary registration slot and can't be re-registered. This makes the game un-continuable because the user can't register enough players.
This is a game-stopping bug that is inexcusable at this stage of the game's development.

I agree with the last two posts.
Also tho, I have friends who love the game but i know they just play as a big team, buy some players and put them in a set formation not bothering with tactics (that would give me sleepless nights!) The funny thing is they usually win and do well in the first season, then hit the sticky second season, quit and start all over again, yet still love the game. This game is and always has been a league above!

Just because a few people moan about the game doesn't mean the game is garbage. Just because a few people love the game doesn't mean the game is great.

Couldn't agree more bhamilton, i've been saying for a while now that if you work on your tactics then the 'bugs' start to go away, i've had nothing but success with King's Lynn using my tactic despite these so called 'bugs'
I think too many people let their frustrations get the better of them, personally the long shots and 1 on 1 problems actually encouraged me to create my own tactic for the first time in many years instead of relying on others to do it for me.
I fully understand that not everyone wishes to take that amount of time to get around these issues but for me personally i found it highly rewarding to work it out.
